Saturday morning Ron Ice and I were taking the cobras out to a short ride in preparation for Sundays breakfast run to Tor C New Mexico. On our way home a GMC Sierra pulled out in front of me at a cross street.... bang........he said "I did not see you". So time became still could not figure out how to use my cell to call 911....a passer by told me he would call 911. Ron witness the crash on his review mirror and turned around....came to me checking my breathing, cognitive abilities ect. He convinced me to go to hospital since my left leg was hurting & my lower back had a cut. After many x-rays no major issue were found...was sent home w/2 RX..kind of feel like a bus ran over me. Emotionally ....it feels just as bad when my dog passed away.

This morning Craig Small, Karl Busch, & Ron Ice came over and we looked cobra and discussed options and all the"thank God....." I have received many calls of support from our members and has been very helpful in dealing with this situation. It became very apparent that the brotherhood that evolved around the great little car is a huge gift of caring and support ...I don't feel alone in dealing with my loss.

Now I just have to wait for the GMC's insurance to contact me. I will keep every posted on the future events of this painful situation.

With the twist in the frame, I'm going to say it's a wipe, but you never know. Just count your blessings it was not another four feet towards the rear of the car. After all,the car can be replaced, your life cannot.

PS:At this point in time do not disassemble the car at all, let it sit until the appraisers come out to look at it. Also, get all of your build receipts in order, make copies to give to the insurance appraiser.

Sorry about the damage to the car but it's great news that you're OK.

Ditto on the gratitude for escaping without major injury. We JUST posted photos of your car man!!! Seriously, for every one of us it seems there are 10 of "them". Drive like you are invisible and I will again remind everyone here at Factory Five something that we repeat all the time... "souls travel in our chassis, build it right!". Let me know how we can help.

I'm glad you are OK. Painful situation indeed. It has to be heartbreaking to see your craftsmanship wrecked, but I'm glad to see you are thinking of options of where to go from here. I'll be looking forward to your future posts.

Up date:
Ok both insurance companies have been out to look at my car. The first words out of the insurance adjuster for GMC that hit me "Oh....what a loss!" My insurance adjuster said "Oh...this has got to hurt your ego"!!!!! Bunch of pics taken by both adjusters...both said this will take some research. I am all so getting an independent appraisal by a certified adjuster. I am missing all the summer cruse in's that are going on all over the city. :(

Hi Charles,
I'm sorry to see your car got hurt. I'm just glad it wasn't both of you. I hope his insurance pays you enough to rebuild. Think of it as the second build you weren't planning on. :) If they pay you enough you can always do the upgrades you wanted.....
I'm glad you're well... Thank God

That's so bad Riptide....

Or if they give you a nice fat payoff you can buy the X-Terminator and have the baddest ride on the block...

The comment that you were fortunate it wasn't another 4 feet towards the rear is definitely true, but it made me think...the stout FF frame might still have made a difference. If it were a box frame or something lighter, maybe it would have folded and allowed the foot box to close. I know, not something we want to think about, but I'm trusting that Dave and the gang there at FF do a lot. I definitely feel that I'm 10,000 times better off in a well engineered car. Glad you were OK.

Be thankful you are only slightly banged up. Almost 3 years since I wrecked my Corvette and I will never be the same physically, but at least I'm here for my daughter!

Agree I would be road kill if I had this frame:
