I have never seen a clear answer to this question, so I think I will try again.

The new spindle that comes with the hotrod and the mk4 kit resolve most of the problems that forced the creation of the sai mod.

If I buy a base kit, you don't get spindles, but I when I try to buy just the spindle, it is the old style?

In other words, buy base kit + sai mod

Or buy complete kit.

Anyone know?

If you want spindles with a base Mk4 just specify that you want the our new Complete Mk4/'33 spindles. Any Mk4 chassis will accept either type of spindle.

Thanks for the question Martin and the answer Andy. To add to Martin's question, would I order SKU # 14507 from the parts catalog for $699????

Thanks,
Tommy Jones

Brilliant. Thanks Andy. The more I read on the new forum with more direct FFR input, the more I think I just need to call and ask when it comes to to order - FFR will sort me out. Just waiting for the next special now...

I installed the spindles last night on the MK4 and found I do not have a torque wrench large enough to set a torque of 240 foot pounds. Is that torque correct?

I have the same question. The suggested spindle hub nut torque in the Mk4 manual is 225 to 240 Lbft, which is much higher than anything I have run across in the past. Although my experience is limited only to Corvette restorations. If correct, I have found that most Auto Parts Stores have torgue wrenches that go into the 200 Lbft range available to rent. However when I inquired they thought I was working on a Tank.

Have you gotten a response on this yet?

My 1994 Mustang repair manual calls for 225 foot pounds on the front spindles if this helps.

I am not the tech, but to the best of my knowledge, that is correct.

Depending on which source you look at, I have seen 190# to 250#. I think anywhere within that range is fine.

Hi,

Within the last few days I completed this install on a 1985 Mustang set up for AI racing. The new Ford spindle nuts were installed @ 250 ft. pounds. This was copied out of the Bass Ford book. That covers SN 95 spindle nut to 2004.
