Glad to see you are making updates and releasing them to guys like us.

BTW Everyone, if you have a special application you would like Tino to look at comparability, just reach out to him. I am doing an AEM Infinity Engine Management System in my GTM and wanted to be able to pull up the tune screens and make adjustments on the fly. The system will totally support this. Therefore I don’t need to pull the laptop out for all tuning changes. Not to mention it will be absolutely cool as $h!t!!!! Thanks for the excellent support Tino. I can’t wait to get passed some of the early build items and move on to integrating your system.

A couple of quick updates:

A 4 door open/closed indication is now available. Custom graphics for "suicide door" configuration for this particular customer is displayed.
83447

New option is an RGB light controller for interior lighting. Virtually any colour is possible with demo modes
to morph colours in smooth transition, or randomly flash colours every five seconds.
83448

Both of these images are still a 'work in progress' as the menu buttons need to be completed. Completion date is estimated for 2 weeks!

More changes coming to this system (it's really blowing up quickly)!

I had my first bit of feedback from a customer who thought the LCD display lacked "high end appeal".
The screen was not bright enough for his taste when driving in bright Sunlight.

My quest to keep costs down has effected the quality of the system and that just can't happen.
I am now looking for "sunlight readable" screens which does increase the cost, however still comes
in much lower than any of the Big Three vendors.

To that end, I've also connected with a graphics developer to take this project over the top. He
contacted me for a system and wondered if he could provide his own custom graphics. From the
moment I saw his work, the gears started turning.

Have a look at this rough draft that he's doing for this Hyundai Veloster. At the moment, it's showing
dual Tach., but the finished product will have the complete cluster available of course.

These 3D graphics will be available as a custom design option (for an additional fee), and a standard
skin that will be included on all systems.

Thanks guys. These graphics are needed to play with the big boys. I've taken a harder stand on things since
the latest review. it's time to, "go big, or go home".

I'll be sure to update everyone with a video once the new screen and processor is tested.

New updates for the LCD system:

As you know I've hired a Graphic Designer who is able to provide high resolution, 3D graphics.
My supplier has finally provided a BIOS update for the processor which means I'm able to move
forward once again with the enhanced design.

To the end user, this means fast wake times (1 second), low standby current, and competitive cost.

I've also left my job to pursue this on a full-time basis. I'm hiring a programmer to help with the
vehicle connectivity particulars (OBDII) and WIFI/Bluetooth options for Smart Phone apps.

This weekend I'll be going live for the first time outside of a forum to debut this system. If you're in
the Toronto area and want to see these gauges in action, I'll be at booth #163 at ImportFest!
July 28th, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre *(MTCC).

Here's a quick clip shown on the new 12.3 inch screen. The image below is a photo of the screen
which is sharper and clearer than my cell phone video.

I apologize if this question has been answered: Is this individually wired to each monitored component or does it run off the Diagnostic Connector for the ECM, or is it a combination of both with an accessory harness for add ons? SERIOUSLY considering this ASAP. Thanks, please feel free to PM me with details or to contact me more directly.

LCD Gauges

Is this individually wired to each monitored component or does it run off the Diagnostic Connector for the ECM

The system can be setup for both methods. It works with carbureted/non-computer cars in which case each sensor is wired individually
to the module.

You can also buy the OBDII option to grab some of the info via the port/ECU, or you can still use the wired method with computer
cars to save cost.

or is it a combination of both with an accessory harness for add ons?

Depending on whether the ECU/PCM supports a parameter, it can be taken from the OBDII port/DLC connector, or individually
wired.

For track cam, would you be able to run 2 cameras?

LCD Gauges

This particular camera is 640 x 420 (for testing).

I've been scoping out better options for the kit at 1280 x 720, 30 - 60 frames per second.

I haven't tried multiple camera recording, but I'm sure there's a way. It will most likely be a stand alone unit ( separate from the LCDi system).

The first proto-type module enclosure is about to be printed! No more generic looking, 'off-the-shelf' enclosures.

It will be nice to have a personalized, custom made box with a logo. No change in functionality, just a bit prettier
and pro looking!

The test print came out fairly nice for factory settings. I think the nozzle temperature needs tweaking
to eliminate the stringing inside the cross-hatching (200 degrees)?

The exterior slicing is noticeable, but not too bad.

It should be even less of an issue on a straight, flat box, but I believe there is a setting to smooth out
the slicing?

It took about 2 hours to print half the dog figurine, then I ran out of test material. I can't
imagine how long it will take to print the module box, but i'd estimate 5 hours each?

Anyone have some experience with printing large objects 10" x 8" x 4" than can confirm?

Your printing software should give you an estimate of print time when you send it to the printer. For some of the long prints, I'll just start it and go to bed. Problem is that, pretty rarely, the print will "mess up" and you'll find a big ball of spaghetti basically. If the printer loses its orientation to the object, it has no idea and just keeps injecting filament where it thinks it should. So it's not a bad idea to check on the process every hour or so if you're around.

beeman
01-19-2019, 01:47 PM
Nothing you print will ever look like a mass produced injection molded abs part. It will have a "printed" appearance. You can do several things if you want a smoother finish. Here's a good overview of your options.
https://m.all3dp.com/2/fdm-3d-printing-post-processing-an-overview-for-beginners/

On your CAD drawing, you have tabs hanging from the inside wall and also slots. A printer can only print an overhang of about 45 degrees, so you'll have to either add supports (your software will do this for you) or cement those features in after the print. I'm assuming you are printing in ABS, there is ABS cement you can buy or make your own by melting some of your filament in acetone to make a paste glue.

beeman

Also for your screw holes, I wouldn't have your printer 'print' the actual holes, I usually just make the holes in CAD a couple mm deep to localize the holes then drill them out after printing. Will be more accurate that way and probably stronger.

I have 4 3D printers and even with seriously optimal settings, you aren't going to get the quality of an injection molded part as described. Also, one of the most forgiving and easiest materials you print with is PLA, which does not stand up to heat generated in cars. You would need to go with PETG or ABS. Both of which typically print slower and don't have the finish quality, depending on the printer. As far as settings, I print PLA at 210 degrees with a 50 degree bed heating. With PETG, I print at 250 degrees nozzle temp and 100 degree bed temp. There are test files you can find that will print different sections of a test print at different temperatures.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2131069

As far as print time, it depends on how you slice the STL, but you can easily go into days of printing time on large prints. Something like a small project box should only take 4-8 hours, again depending on the slicer settings. Doing a finer print with a 0.1mm layer height takes twice as long as a 0.2mm height (duh, math), but has a much nicer finish. I just printed a HTC Vive attachment for the controllers and the print took nearly 48 hours with PETG, 0.12mm layer height. The print came out beautifully, but it's not fast by any means, certainly not enough for production. You're also going to be hard-pressed to get rid of the sliced exterior finish. Something like a DLP style 3D printer can have a much nicer finish, but work envelopes are typically smaller and material costs are higher. With my latest print, I was only printing at 50mm/sec with PETG. With PLA, I can get upwards of 80mm/sec print speeds.

210C has been optimal for me with PLA as well. The reality is you’re creating parts with an additive process. It will leave slicing marks regardless of settings or material/equipment quality. For a flat faced part, you can run it over a belt sander with fine grit to quickly smooth things out. Other than post-processing, the best you can do is use a fine layer height (<.2mm) to make the slices smaller. This will increase print time considerably.

As for estimating filament needs, Cura software is free and allows you to enter filament roll specs. It will then estimate filament usage and materials cost when you run a model through the slicer routine. As noted, pay close attention to your material specs. PLA prints well but isn’t ideal for automotive applications.

Hello All,

I've been holding out on some news about the LCD systems and overall progress. My interior parts have finally arrived for my GTM which means
the gauges can be installed and a complete, functional video can be made!

The first magazine ad has been submitted for review and will be issued by late September / early October for the SEMA show which I'll be attending
as a spectator. If anyone is planning on going, please message me - I'd love to meet up!

A customer sent a video of his completed car (which will also be at SEMA this year). This system is the very first version that I designed for public
consumption back in 2017. So much has changed since then, however the original concept still does the trick!

https://youtu.be/cX9ZssX6EM0

Lastly, I'll be selling these Carbon Fiber dash pods and bezel plates as options with the LCD systems. This design can handle a 12.5 inch x 6 inch
LCD screen. It's no taller than the Factory Five pod, and fits the factory dash opening. The only change is the flattened, extended corners.
Also available in bare Fiberglass, painted Fiberglass, or Flat Carbon. Pricing and photos will be available on my new website soon (I'll announce it)!

How does the LCDi-100 stack up (based on what you’ve seen)? If you’re too shy to comment, please click a poll option, or send a PM. (POLL ANSWERS ARE PRIVATE)

In Process: I’m revamping my website – first impression is crucial. My video/promo material is getting better, but it’s far from where it needs to be. User / Installation Manuals are being written. Price DROP by re-configuring system with the most common functions. (at the moment, I’m not required to charge tax).

Building reputation for quality and performance doesn’t happen over-night, especially in the shadows of big name manufacturers. Thank you to those who jumped on board, and others that will be working with me in the future!

The table below compares the most popular units. Is the info accurate?

The red fields alongside my product will be difficult to improve as the costs are astronomical. Production facilities won’t even talk to you unless you’re pumping out thousands of units. True story, I was quoted $450,000 USD for a custom shaped LCD screen!!!

Happy New Year Everyone,

We're starting off 2020 with a new and improved look! The new website concept is going to be
easier to navigate, with better product info and photos. A cool looking logo for identity as well!

I have hired a programmer to further develop the code, and introduce more options. Keep an
eye out for some big projects to be revealed this year - updates soon!

https://scontent.fybz2-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/82244777_2971607886196591_6141090092615204864_n.jp g?_nc_cat=105&_nc_eui2=AeHdRPYl2DwXMjLUAgh4sK3TAYQnt2THPSVMeYxMO _UNSYp1vvn8j3kWV1vLyoiV8bLNjGyQ2UX2fXG-WHZblmV04d8GLVbRp5pJkyIKRonkEA&_nc_ohc=lW8z_C2AXwMAQmiW5DIKWP0I9kpC0x7j7n3fCTDSep kNHiKPtaLQBboiQ&_nc_ht=scontent.fybz2-2.fna&oh=19b9b2a94cd3478c35b254729f52df20&oe=5E8E5D3F

This project has grown so much since the beginning. There is literally nothing leftover from the
original concept when compared to the current kit hardware. New vinyl decals to replace the paper
stickers (no more wrinkles!), a beautiful new case, more powerful and faster processors, and the
list goes on!

Great to hear things are growing and the new system looks great. If I was not as far along as I am I would have to consider installing and 200 system. You have done a phenomenal job getting a new product and company off the ground and out into the market place. It is one thing to come up with a product and quite another to bring it to market and have it excepted. My hat is off to all the hard work and time it took to do what you have done...….

Thank you for the message. It's crazy to think I quit my job to give this a shot, and it's going well so far.

This year I have to concentrate on getting my name out there, with better product demos/in-car videos.
I've signed up for some marketing courses, and will bring in people that have expertise in certain fields
to make it all better.

Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Disney, and HP all started in a basement/garage....and took several
years to break through. I have to keep telling myself that.

Good evening all, we have some interesting updates to share, and new customer install photos that are finally coming to life!

The website has the latest graphics uploaded, and some renamed menu headers for easier navigation. The latest LCD screens
have more robust cables and improved mounting format.

Soon to be released some Ferrari F430 replica love!

Enjoy the quick promo video.

Good day all, thanks for dropping in to read the latest updates.

We're moving in the right direction with an aluminum enclosure and harness, as opposed to 3D printed
housings. There is no difference in performance from the previous version, simply a hardware change.

157916157921

A more standardized kit will be launched with a dedicated skin to help expedite the build process. The skin
will offer variations for manufacturer logos and vehicle images.

Two versions will be available for those needing additional information.
6 to 8 Gauges: Tach, Speedometer, Voltmeter, Fuel Level, Temperature, Pressure, Pressure/Fluid Temp, Boost
157918157920157919

Custom skins will still be offered for projects needing more OEM replicated clusters.
They can be found on the website at this link:

https://lcddash.com/product/graphic-skins/

I'll be hiring a tech to help assemble the systems are more orders are coming in. If you're in the Whitby, Ontario
area and have a background in Electronics feel free to reach out!

Here are a couple of the latest promo videos to leave you with!

Thank you, Steve. Things definitely look promising for this LCD kit!

I'll need to wrap my GTM in a big red bow for the years of neglect. ;)

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I purchased an incomplete Gen 1 that came with an Isis (now infinity box) system for it. I would like to do a single console display for front and rear camera, entertainment, HVAC, and start button. Would I be able to connect all the Infinity Box functions into one of your console systems? Also I believe I read your system does not yet have Bluetooth for phones are there plans for that in the next year or so?

Thanks. Your stuff looks very cool.

Thanks CK,

It is best to Private Message, or email me with specifics on which Infinity functions you want to use with the LCD system.

The HVAC, Infotainment, and Engine Start are only available on the Dual Screen as that is the touch control mechanism
for climate function, relay controls, etc.

There is a hybrid solution for bluetooth which is explained in this video:
