Now that I'm ready to start my 818s build, I'm wondering how you all are storing the windshield. I'm tempted to leave it taped in the frame and either stand it on or hang it from the 2 points that mount on the chassis.
Any one care to comment.
Thanks

I left mine taped until I was ready to urathane it in place. I wrapped it in the brown paper that everything was wrapped in and put it at the back of the bedroom closet until i installed it. I recall someone had it hanging and the glass fell out, but don’t remember who.

It is a good idea to keep it taped to the frame till you need to install the frame. I did not and all 3 times the frame got so out of wack that the glass shop had a terrible time with the windshield install.

Hi Wallace,
Thanks for the windshield advice. We last talked, probably in June. So as you can tell I've got my kit and am starting.
And thanks to everyone who has replied.

I left it taped, and laid it on a moving blanket face-down (meaning the weight was on the front of the windshield, not the frame). Had it in my crawl-space like that for around 2 years. No issues.

It was originally taped, but took it off to Check how difficult it would be to stiffen the frame. Didn't bother to retape it since its in a safe place.
After reading Wallace's post I'll retape it .

Ha, that was me. I carefully designed 2 short chains with s-hooks to hold my windshield with the glass taped in. It was hanging in a perfect place in the garage so it would take minimal space and not get bumped -a perfect plan. Perfect for a few weeks. One morning I came out to the garage to find the glass on the floor, but in one piece with no chips or scratches! The FFR duct tape had loosened in the Arizona summer heat and slowly, slowly lowered the glass to the floor. Like a few other plans, it was perfect . . . until it wasn't.

Left mine taped in the frame and stood it up on a shelf. Pete saw all my body panels hanging from the walls and made sure that I wasn't hanging the glass, as I'm practically down the street from him.
