Hi,

I am new to the site and new to the world of kit cars and have a couple questions before I order my kit. The questions are in regard to what can and can’t be done in order to be get a kit car registered in NJ.

1)Specifically I’d like to use a 5.2L Coyote Aluminator engine from Ford performance. If I buy all the electronics, add catalytic converters and have someone tune the engine could I get this registered and pass emissions for a Custom Built Car in NJ?

2)Would a factory five be considered a collector car in NJ that which is driven less than 3000 miles per year and can be exempt from Emissions testing?

3)Lastly, if I went the Ford Pushrod Engine route with a carb, but it is a new crate motor. Does that engine required to meet any special emissions? Can I run that engine without cats?

I certainly appreciate people’s feedback on this topic.

Thanks,

JK
