Maybe a dumb question but the instructions confuse me. When you strip the blue outer coating and the fiberglass wrap you are left with what looks like a black wire. Almost feels braided. Does this get stripped as well or is supposed to be the black braid? I did one by stripping that black wire down to it's contents and all seems fine but I want to get this right. Thanks for your help.

Can't say for sure about Ford Racing wires, but for Taylor wires (what I used on my Mk3) and other brands I've used, the "black wire" you're describing is the center conductor, and should not be stripped any further. What you are probably seeing is a fiberglass braid around a carbon core. This should be left intact. Bend it back under the connector and crimp in place. You won't find actual wire (e.g. copper) in an RFI suppression type spark plug wire.

Thanks Edward. I called Ford Racing and that is the conclusion. One side down, one to go. The wire looms are harder to deal with than the wires.
