How much room do you all have between the edge of the brake pedal and the engine side of the footbox? I moved the Wilwood brake pedal pad to the left and I still only have 4", and that ain't nearly enough. My skinniest 10 1/2 sneakers are 4 1/4" wide. Widening the footbox is no longer an option.

I bumped out the engine side panel and riveted it to the square tube, made a piece to cover the gap by the 4" main tube. After installing 3/16" EZ-COOL insulation, FFR carpet and plastic scuff pad----I have 5-3/8" from the Willwood pedal RH edge to the pad. Jim28512852

How did you mount your Coyote pedal?
I used the SN95 box because the drive-by-wire pedal is a Monster. After bending the pedals, I have 5-3/4" from the right side of the brake pedal to the mod motor panel. I'd like to do custom bump out of the inner panel like cobrajj but I don't think there's enough room with the modular headers.

The throttle pedal isn't the problem, it's the distance from the brake pedal to the footbox. The pedals can't be bent the way the SN95 pedals can, and the pedal assembly can't move sideways due to the design of the FFR bracket.

Joe,
I know you said widening the footbox isn't an option but take a look at this anyway. I made this mod to a Mk4 using a Windsor engine; maybe there is enough room to do something similar with the Coyote.
I cut a triangle out of the lower engine side panel and bent up "pyramid" to provide some extra room around the throttle pedal.
Before, with the flat panel:

And after:

Here are the dimensions:

My size 12's aren't happy either! I 'm driving mine now in gelcoat, no padding or carpet. No room but lots of heat!

Joe,
I cut the brake pedal pad. Basically everything on the throttle side of the arm. My size 16 running shoes fit now. I'll post a pic ASAP.

Here is what I did. I cut the inside of the Wilwood pedals and used Russ Tompson's pedal pads JB welded over it. You really have to look and you will notice but looks like I did not do any thing..I wear Size 11.5 and have no problems with my wide running shoes driving the car..

Similar suggestion to David's, can you cut off the pad and remount it to the outside of the arm?
these might help too:

btw, Jeff Kleiner, your aluminum is WAY TOO CLEAN & SHINEY  (I'm jealous, is that your final finish on the panels? I really like it. Is it protected with shark-hide or otherwise?)

Be careful what shoe you wear. I had on an old pair of Topsider deck shoes on a few weeks ago and the soles were worn
smooth. Foot slipped off the clutch. Had my reflexes been off I'd have had a new kitchen appliance (the garage wall backs up to my kitchen). Fortunately I hit the brake just in time.
I use an Oakley Foose driving shoe. Its skinny and has a nice grip. BE CAREFUL!

I did a slight variation on the pyramid of Jeff's. I did a vertical cut on the side panel about 2 1/2" back from the front and 13" high. I then bent up a trangular piece to fill in the gap. Some slight re-profiling of the bottom of the engine side panel and I gained about 1 1/2" at pedal height. I attached the panel to the main frame tube by bending a pice of aluminum into an angle and riviting it in place.
Now my foot with a running shoe (size 11) fits no problem.
Pardon the silicone mess on the inside floor shot as I took it while waiting for the excess silicone to set up enough to be able to cut it out.

I have a couple pairs of Puma driving shoes, super comfortable. I also have a pair of driving mocs from Lands End (http://www.landsend.com/pp/MoccasinShoes~204675_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::ARW&CM_MERCH=IDX_Shoes-_-Men-_-Regular-_-Leather&origin=index) that are so so so comfortable. I remember wearing my regular tennis shoes during a gokart ride and scaring myself silly, hitting two pedals at once.
Second vote for the Pumas. I have a pair of Speedcats that are great. I got them in brown, so I can sorta get away with them at work when I drive the car. I don't even try to wear normal shoes anymore. One morning I forgot and didn't even get out of the driveway before noticing "something's wrong with the car..." oh wait, not the car, just the driver.

My 9 1/2s have no problem with the donor pedals in the FFR MKII footbox, as long as I wear the proper (i.e. narrow) shoes. The same was trus for my 1970 Lotus Europa many years ago, now. I have always been sensitive to pedal placement and spacing since I began heel-and-toe downshifting in 1969. Too much space between the pedals makes that more challenging. Too little space (as with some of my wider shoes) requires some foot contortions so as not to operate two pedals at once when I don't intend to. For me at 5'-9" and 178,# clearances and cockpit dimensions of the MKII couldn't be better.
BTW, I seem to recall that, here in Massachusetts, driving barefooted was illegal, as well may be the case in other states. Maybe that has changed, maybe not.

I couldn't say for sure as I am going with a 302 but the kick out was only 2" at the bottom and by the time you are halfway up it is only 1".
