Hello all. I am looking for some help/advice with the installation of the passenger side floor board on my MK4. The problem I am having is that there is a bracket mounted on the frame of the transmission tunnel that is preventing the sidewall of the floor board from sitting flush against the frame of the transmission tunnel. I have scoured the book but cannot seem to find what the bracket is used for. So before I cut and grind the bracket to allow for a proper fit, I thought I would post this out here and see if anyone can help me to identify the bracket and then offer any thoughts on whether it is permissible (safe) to cut it back a bit. Thanks in advance.

i cut half of mine off, just enough to clear the aluminum. i believe its for a donor build park brake.

You can see it in use here.

Thanks CDXXVII - I was guessing that it had something to do with another type of e-brake setup. Very much appreciate the help.

Yep, that's it. Thanks a bunch for the link. I feel much better now about trimming that back.

That bracket is for e-brake cables. If you use the kit supplied e-brake handle (e.g. not a Mustang donor handle) the bracket isn't used. But the real issue is you shouldn't be trying to pull the side aluminum onto the entire transmission tunnel frame. The aluminum contacts the frame right at the back, but mostly floats 1/8 - 1/4 inch away. In this picture, there are three rivets diagonally in the back. Those are touching the frame. The rest of the side doesn't. Only at the top. Note those aren't rivets around the e-brake opening. Those are nutserts for the e-brake boot.

You've just gotten it from Obi-Wan Kenobi (aka: EdwardB) so take his advice to the bank.
