I'm having a problem with the wiring and function of my windshield wipers. I believe I have them wired using this schematic from FFR.

Regardless of the position of switch, the motor runs. They don't park and they don't stop. Here are pictures of how I've got the plug for the motor and the switch wired.

I used 16 gauge wire. It seems to me that the wires get warm/hot. Not sure what I've done wrong. The orange wire takes the place of the brown wire in the schematic simply because I didn't have brown 16 gauge wire.
Help!!

This was the next project that I was looking into doing this week. From the instructions it says wiper motor, not the plug into the wiper motor, you may have the brown mixed up with the yellow and the purple/white mixed up with the green!
I could be very wrong
please post what you find or can someone chime in

I'm wiring this up right now and have interpreted the FFR diagram as showing the plug or wiper motor "from the outside looking in," for lack of a better way to put it. If I'm right on that, you'd need to transfer the 4 non-ground wires to the other respective sides of the plug.

I agree with the other posts. You have the wires in the plug incorrectly. The perspective of the schematic is looking at the terminals on the wiper motor. I've used this wiring diagram, which is the same thing just maybe slightly easier to read.

agreed.. the plug appears to be mirrored ... you need to reverse the installation .. should work great after that.

Got home yesterday and rewired the plug for the windshield wipers. It works! Thanks for all the help.

If anyone else is running into this problem, here's what fixed it for me. Looking at the wiper motor connections on the right side of the schematic, swap yellow with brown, then swap white with green. I had assumed that the wiring was shown with me looking at the plug on the wiper motor, but it appears to be reversed.
I flipped those wires and I have a 2 speed wiper motor working fine. No extra wiring, no extra fuses etc.
