I wonder when this day will be forgotten by the next generation. It will be a sad day for sure.
I support ALL troops, before and onward!

Sadly, there aren't many of our WWII veterans left, but if you ever have the opportunity to sit down and talk with one of these heroes it will change your life. I met a WWII Medal of Honor recipient years ago and still recall his humility and grace as he discussed his fellow soldiers rather than his own actions that earned him America's highest honor.

I am a veteran and love seeing posts like this! I have a lot of respect for those who served in the real military (I just kind of floated around on an aircraft carrier for a few years).

I also am not a veteran though I am a Military brat. Dad fought at the Battle of the Bulge at the Citadel at *****e France (so he's a real Son of *****e). However, I was born on the 4th of July and I do bleed red.

As a vascular surgeon practicing in southern Oregon since 2001, an area with no VA hospital, I have had the honor of taking care of our countries veterans. Sadly, pretty much all of my WWII vets have passed on. Due to the nature of vascular surgery I got to know these folks well and I miss them. They were a generation of truly wonderful and selfless people to whom all Americans owe so much...
