I am not looking for a track car or drag raceing, but do not want a dog. Has anybody built a coupe if a 5.0 and would it be a good weekend crusier??? have some extra cash but have a self inposed budget.

If you meen the old pushrod 5.0 about 80% of the coupes are built with them. At 2400 lbs anything over 240 HP and the car will scream. My opinion.
Chaz...

Yes, was talking about the 5.0 you get with the donor gt 87-95 think they are 225hp then headers , coldair , maybe a cam sould be no problem to make 250hp

There is nothing dog about a 5.0 in the coupe. Yes, it will be a very satisfying weekend ride. I don't know about a cruiser, it might be too loud and fast for that :-).

Yes, that's what is in mine, and it's wicked fun to drive.

It is fast. I run with 6 old vets (1964 thru 1966) 327 and 350/350 HP. I stay next to all of them. They will not race me. I'm faster, I think and I think they think I am. I have a STOCK '92 with a T5 and 355 gears.

I'm running a almost stock 5.0 in my roadster, I did add a powerdyne supercharger for fun. I's got almost 300 rear wheel HP and gets over 20mpg and has been bullit proof. I love that mtor and you will to. Add some heads and a cam down the road and you will have fun and it gives you something to do.;-)

I used an '87 5.0 donor engine. Bored it .030 over, bought a forged stroker kit, added Victor Jr heads and intake, with a pretty hot cam. I'm not on the road yet, but I think it will move the coupe just fine for me.
