Pulley Recommendations

Going to be redoing a 99 explorer 302 to replace my 89 stang 302, keeping it basic with no a/c or power steering. What do you all recommend on a friendly budget, thanks!:)

I've used CFR bracket and pulley sets on a couple of builds. Good quality, excellent pricing:

You may need to change the Explorer water pump and/or front cover to a Mustang configuration to be compatible however.

You can just keep the Explorer front accessories less the power steering and AC. So you just have alternator, water pump, the idler pulley and the crank. How's that for budget friendly? I run this in my 1967 Mustang.

I can speak from 1st hand experience, you can keep the explorer setup almost as is. .. almost. I had to do a few minor mods to get it to work.
If you're not going with Power Steering though, it's even easier... except you'll need to keep that upper-middle idler pulley for the water pump rotation and belt wrap.
Off the top of my head, things I did to make it fit.
- custom PS reservoir (hardest part)
- remove AC pump.
- cut off excess PS and AC pump mounting aluminum.
- 3/4" solid lowered engine mounts... with a 1/4" spacer put back. So.. about 1/2" or so lower?
- Fox Oil Pan and pickup
- Low-Profile drain plug Dorman 65407 (to minimize chance of damage)

Long before I even received the FF kit. The top of the bracket at the PS pump gets cut off, and the AC part also.

First install to check fit and see if the stock PS reservoir would fit. It was too tall.

Installed. With the body and hood on, there is about 3/4-1" of clearance at the top of the PS pump. But, I'm not too worried since I have solid motor mounts. No movement.

A view of the bottom of the FOX oil pan, in relation to the chassis tubes. The photo doesn't quite get it right though. With the low-profile drain plug, I'd guess the pan sticks down perhaps 1/2" below the frame tubes.
