Centerforce Clutch & Dowel Pins

Have a 69 351W that I'm adding a T5, the Centerforce clutch (DF920830)that was recommended by Centerforce doesn't fit the dowel pins in the Ford racing pressure plate & dowel pin kit M6397a302. Can I enlarge the holes in the pressure plate or is there another set of pins?

They make stepped down dowel pins. I would call Mike Forte as he has them in stock, is a vendor and is in MA.

I'd drill them out in a heartbeat. But I'd measure first and see if I had a drill that will work. I don't know the answer for you specific dowels, but I'd look for a drill that is maximum .005 inches larger than the dowel. I know the PPs I have installed needed a light tap (just my hand some times) for them to fit onto the dowels. The dowels are what center your PP onto the flywheel. The bolts just hold it there.

Sounds like your flywheel holes and dowels are larger than the holes in the pressure plate. If that's the case I'd have no issue drilling the pressure plate dowel pin holes the same size as the pins. The dowels should be a press fit in the flywheel to do any good as a locater. The holes in the pressure plate will be a tight slip fit -- don't get carried away enlarging them or you defeat their purpose.

Some flywheel / pressure plate systems use shoulder bolts instead of dowels for locating the pressure plate concentric on the flywheel. Make sure what your components are designed for before modifying anything. If one uses dowels and the other is relying on shoulder bolts that will complicate things and may influence your next step.

I drilled mine out. Then I found a little plastic envelope with the correct dowel pins so be sure to check all your stuff.
