Please graduate MK4 #8952

Alright. I am not saying I am done. From what I can tell.......your never really done. But, this graduation thread is overdue. I got my kit Sept 26, 2016. With no real experience, tons of help from this great forum, and a lot of hard work, I got it done. I did all the work myself including the paint. Again, no experience with painting a car at all. With help from the forum experts (namely the Jeffs) I was able to paint the car in my garage. It took me 688 hours to complete it all. Of that 688 hours, 227 was bodywork and paint. Everything was completed in Sept 2017 almost exactly one year from the date I received the kit. For those on the fence, wondering if they have the skills, the space, or even the resource, If I can do it so can you.

So without further ado. Here are some pictures. I was going to hold off until I could get some proper pictures by a professional but that hasn't happened. Sorry these aren't the best. The interior is dirty, lighting is poor, and the pictures were taken with my phone. I am too busy driving to stop. I have 873 miles, one autocross, and a smiles everywhere I go. The smiles are mostly from me........THIS IS AWESOME!!!!

Looks great. Congratulations! I don't shy away from too much, but painting is just not something I want to tackle. So extra kudos for that! Now go enjoy the driving.

Congratulations, nice job. Can I ask what color red that is and stripe color. I'm thinking of painting mine red also (wife wants red so that's what it will be)

Car looks fantastic, great job! You picked yours up 6 days after I did, and you're done already! Mine is only ready for first prime. Enjoy the smiles per miles.
Now that the car is done, you have a blank canvas in the garage for some garage art!

Thanks. The red is a Chrysler color. Paint code PRH. I selected it because it was close the new Ford Ruby Red but was a 2 stage. I didn't think I could pull off a 3 stage on my first go around.

Stripe color was a Toyota color. 1D6 I think.

Absolutely beautiful - and you can stand proud when you tell everyone how much you did yourself... and in a relatively short time.

Beautiful. 1 year? Wow, you cranked it now. The paint looks awesome! Doing your own paint is very rewarding.

Your car looks terrific! And you only received your car 4 years after me! Of course I'm still building, and the end is no where in site unfortunately. I hope mine ends up looking as good as yours, but I know me....

Congrats on a fantastic build, I find it hard to believe this was your first build such a great job.

Love the wheels, they look like Saleen mustang wheels. The reason I ask is these are the wheels I have on a resent restoration of a 93 ZX convertible I still have.

I can relate to smiles.
