Thanks everyone for the kudos..as you all know, it was and continues to be a labor of love.. Yes, I guess you could call it a "Black Cherry", although, depending on the light, it has many other looks too. One night under amber street lights, you would swear it was root beer brown. I especially like how it looks in night video I have seen. Looks black until you go under a streetlight, then you get this great flash or red.. We started with a base of Cadillac diamond black, which is a solid black background that has a clearcoat with small silver flake in it...effectively laying the flake on top of the color rather than in it. Then we laid out the stripes and sprayed those with House of Color heavy silver flake, and waited for that to set up. In about 40 minutes we were able to mask the graphics, so then they got shot using House of Color Platinum flake, a much smaller particle size and more in the direction of grey than silver. We were lucky enough to get that in one shot, and within 30 minutes we were shooting the whole car with House of Color Candy Apple Red- about 3 coats gave us the red depth we were looking for. All of that went under six coats of House of Color Show clear.
We did it all in one day--13 hours. Once it cured for about 4 days we started sanding..
