After 5 neck surgeries I finally bit the bulletin and had the entire neck fused. Needless to say the pain has been unbearable (ketamine and fentanyl. My nurosegeon has banned me from ever driving the cobra unless.... I believe he he knows what he is talking about because he drives a Sunbeam Tiger. I currently have the original low back seat but he says I have to go high back to be able to support the deck and possible even go to a HANS device. I have no idea where to start to look so looking for ideas what I need to look for. Not a small guy 5’-10@ and 225 pounds so like Jay Zelenograd says I have this buttocks that follows me around

KIrkey high backs that FFR sells are 16" inner width. Summit sells some that are 17" and usually for a better price. I know the 17" will fit in an MK4. Check those out. I have them and love them. I documented my install pretty thoroughly in my build thread. There is a link in my signature and the first post has an index that will direct you to the appropriate area.
I love the seats and find them very comfortable and supportive.

You might want to consider the halo style seats and finding a light weight carbon fiber helmet

You might also want to contact the Hans people. I know that the original designers were doctors so they would have some good info for you.

Sorry to hear about your surgery.

I like the Kirkey 41 series, very comfortable.

I will have to look about the width I have installed (Mk4), but there is still room left for a wider seat (I see they make them up to 20" wide).
