Due to delays associated with our engine delivery we're trying to get some body work done prior to engine installation. How accurate have the factory cut outs for side exhaust been? Trimming necessary? If so, to what extent?

They are for J-pipes....so if that's what you are using they are close. If you are going 4 into 4's just leave them alone for now....typically , with 4X4's the pass side will need to be moved up 3/4 inch while the driver goes up 2.5 in. Driver side sticks out further so you need to clear for the collector bolts. ..da bat

da bat,
Does the engine make a difference in cut out difference? Running a 69 351W with headers to the side pipes...

Everything makes a difference with the body cutouts. Engine, heads, headers, motor mounts, how the engine is sitting in the motor mounts, how the body is aligned/mounted, etc. Really, don't think about trying to adjust the cutouts until you have both the engine and the body mounted.

X2 on sir edwardb’s comment. It’s impossible to get an accurate hole made without the motor in and headers on. Then you can try to install the pipes and trim the body where needed. Enjoy the process.

A little bit of difference at the motor makes a lot a bit of difference at the body....a lot!
