Ok, I officially had it with MSD, 3 boxes (6al Digitals) since January.
So, Who makes a reliable unit?

I'm getting by on a MSD Pro billet without the box just because I heard to many horror stories. I was wanting to buy what you are fed up with, looks like I dodged the bullet.
I've ran a Procomp dizzy (8000 line) for 5 years without a box and no trouble whatsoever.

I've got a Mallory Digital Hyfire-VI AL. It's about the only thing on the entire car that hasn't broke.

I like the Cran HI-6 box. It has dials for the rev limiter, no pills. I also like their distributor as well.

I ran the Crane Hi6 box for probably 12 years on my Mustang and then the FFR before it eventually quit. Never had a Mallory box quit on me and I have had them on 3 different cars. Just a note on 'boxes' when I had my FFR on the dyno we tried a few things and one was to make runs with and without the Hi 6 box and it made no difference at all on WOT runs. This was with an Accel high output coil and AC Delco copper core plugs gapped at 0.030" (supercharged). The Crane box did appear to help with part throttle drive-ability even though it made no more peak power. May be if the plug gaps were opened up it might of made more power, don't know. Anyway the point is that if your ignition system is in good shape don't expect a box to make much if any difference.

Same as Pete, I went with the Mallory version, I think mine is the 6AL as well and has the adjustable rev limiter built into it.
I have heard very few complaints on the Mallory, but then I don't think they sell as many as MSD does. I am thinking of picking up another pigtail for the dizzy though and keeping it in the car so I can wire straight to the coil in a pinch.

I like my MSD 6-al2. It's been rock solid.

Ok, I need to appologize to MSD, I found the problem at it was not their fault.
A litttle history.
Orginaly battery was in center box in trunk, over winter I moved it up front and located MSD unit in trunk battery box with ventilation holes, Well dummy me chaffed the B+ when I ran it thru the box, yes there is a rubber grommet but chafe was further down line where I wire tied it to the frame. Lesson learned.
I order a Crane Hi-6.
Thanks for all the input and oppinions.
Cheers,
