Hello Zeid and welcome to forum.

Not entirely sure what you mean by mk4 LHD, but there are several Mk4's registered in Australia. And Daytonas and Hot Rods. But they are all converted to RHD, which is not that big an issue.

Hope this helps.

Hi all! Currently living in the USA and looking at purchasing a RHD MK4 kit and bringing it back with me in 2 yrs time.. have started looking at the https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/ and the process for getting vehicle import approval. it would we good to hear how others have gone about this. I know component cars Australia ?? used to do this but believe that they no longer do.

Plan is to purchase kit (>12 months prior to return) leave in crate (it will be hard!!) and then import in parts when we return to AUS then start build using FPV falcon parts etc.

Does anyone have any thought or suggestions on this approach??

Cheers in advance

Sounds OK Rob.

I was able to bring my Mk4 complete kit in direct as 'parts' with no issues. The only real stipulation was that the crate not contain any engine/gearbox/wheels - the addition of a driveline turns the collection of parts into a complete vehicle (in the eyes of customs) and that makes it pretty much impossible as it has no VIN.

But this pretty much aligns with the complete kit anyways, so no real drama. If you do source a driveline whislt in the US, just send it as a separate shipment and you should be ok.

Only other advice is to ditch the FPV motor for a LS, they fit way better!!

Just found out this forum wasn't included on the home page for recent threads.

Fixed!
