I pulled into a Service station to fill the tank. It took 14.5 gallons, but I thought I had at least another gallon or so left in the tank. Could the current tank be 18 gal capacity. If not, yikes, I made it just in time.

I will say it again....yikes. I was apparently cutting it very close.

You might want to adopt the 1/4 tank is empty. At least you didn't have to push it.

Good idea. And, as it was a busy day in downtown Lake Geneva traffic, I really dodged a bullet.

Not sure what the complete kit comes with but most of the mustang tanks are 15.4 Gallons.

Jay, I love driving in downtown Lake Geneva! All those cars diagonally parked with the alarms on... do I need to say more?!

Steno,

I never gave it a thought, but now I'll have to try it ... at least once. Trouble maker!

I've put 14.95 in my tank a couple of times and the gauge showed about 1/8 tank before filling.

Wow, talk about playing it close.
Saturday morning my gas gauge was midway between the 1/2 and the 1/4 mark and it took 10.2 gallons to fill. That's about as low as I let it go before looking for a gas station. If it get's to the 1/4 mark I figure I have about 3 gallons left and I better be sitting at the pump.

Jay - Just to make sure your build it period-correct, I'm going to get you a stick like they used on the original cars to check the fuel level.... you may have trouble getting it down that filler neck, though. LOL ;-)

When I build using the Speedhut gauges I do the manual calibration and set the "empty" point with about 2 gallons in the tank then fill it and set "full".
