I have tried putting the dust boots on the upper control arm several times and they never stay in place. They always slide off when I put the castle nut on. Is this ok or am I supposed to do something to make it stay put. 75164

That will not hold grease like it is. The angle of the ball joint looks really off compared to the spindle. Can you post a few more pics from different angles?

I will take another photo tonight. I do need to get the upper and lower control arms adjusted, and I don't have the steering hooked up so it is turned as far as it can go. But it doesn't take much movement for it to come loose regardless of the angle. Is there something I can use to make it stick a little better?

Just from what I can see in the photo you provided, it looks like either the control arm or the spindle are installed incorrectly; hard to really tell for sure. I'm building a roadster, so the front suspension is quite a bit different and I can't make any real comparisons. Looking at a picture from the 33 Pickup thread, which should be pretty much the same suspension, the angles look a lot different than your picture.

my first reaction when I saw the title of this thread was "we're gonna talk about a WWII Submarine movie?" ..........Gotta get my eyes checked :)

Here is a picture of the full spindle with the dust boot. Any help would be appreciated on how to get the dust boots to stay in place.

But Rychi1, they aren't done up and cotter pins installed are they? Can't tell, but comparing thread sticking past the nuts, both my castle nuts are much further down the thread.

I haven't tightened everything down because the dust boots keep coming loose.
