Thanks in advance for your help. I purchased an EJ207 Ver 7. The turbo side main harness had been cut off, I purchased the connector and am working on re-pinning so I can wire up the AVCS. Does anyone have a picture of where the wires go? I have pictures of where the wires go, but as you can see from the pictures some of the wires are crimped together to 2 wires without a cover. Hey Chef
I don't know if this will help.
This is the way that connector is wired on an 04 Forester XT or STI. yours may be different.
The circle with MR3 in it mean that point goes to The main relay pin 3.

Bob, thank you for taking the time. If you look at the picture from JDM racing motors, the top connector has 10 holes, but 9 connectors pinned. If from there you look at the picture IMG_2491.JPG you see from behind that connector (which was cut off and I had to source a new connector and pins) There are 11 wires with 2 of them have a metal crimp that splits off into 2 uncovered wires. I am looking for a picture of where those pins would go into the new connector.
Kurtis.

Chef818 -are you using a USDM wiring harness and adding the AVCS leads from the EJ207 engine harness to the main harness or repairing the cut end of EJ207 engine harness?
Can't guarantee this is perfect, but its one of the resources I looked at before adding the AVCS wires to my main harness. It does explain wire positions of both sides of the connector. Hopefully it helps.

please look at the attached picture. The grey with orange connector. Does anyone have a picture of what their EJ207 wires/ connections look like that come from the engine and plug into that connector 73618

It's a bit hard for me to reach/see. Would it help if I rolled back the wiring loom on the engine harness side? And sorry, hadn't seen the 2nd pic - that is ugly.

Yes, that would help. I am confused as there are more wires there than connectors and some are crimped???!

Bare crimp is likely a ground probably for the shielding wires as well.

So I went to a local shop and they solved 1 question I had. I was looking for the red/ blue wire from the knock sensor, but was only seeing a larger gauge blue wire. This was in fact the wire I was looking for but the shielded wire was blue unlike most of the shielded wire were grey. So now the question I have is about these 2 wires in the picture attached. one is on the far left (red) and 1 on the far right (white), which seem to be grounds. The white one connects to the manifold ground by the coolant reservoir and have not tracked dow the red yet.
Do they just get wrapped around the shielded wires when you recover and pin the 9 wires into the connector for the passenger side harness? Are their specific wires that these should connect or wrap to?
Should they touch other wires?

Acording to redfogo's diagram on his build it looks like the shield wires connect to the white wire which grounds on the intake. Still trying to find out what the red one goes too, however the only unassinged pin after the cam crank and cam angle sensors are wired up is number 5. Are the avcs angle sensors hall sensors instead of varible reluctance? If so they need a power supply and that might be it?

From what I can tell from this attached wiring diagram, the red (but there is no color designation on the schematic) is the AVCS position sensor ground the ties into the white ground wire. I have been unable to find a picture or answer on how it connects / grounds the other wires. Does the exposed ground wires need to touch the actual wires or just the shielding wires or just wrap around the rubber covering?

So you connect all the shields metal to metal contact to a ground it helps if you strip back the coating you can unwrap a bit of the sheilding by twisting it. It's to help eliminate electrical noise from dirtying up the signal.

That makes sense, so the white and red wires on the sides of the attached pictures, The part that is the crimp connection, that is the original shield wires connected to the ground before the wires were cut from the original connector

Appears so, still seems odd the importers cut the harness instead of popping the connector.

Yeah, takes about as long to take off the connector as is does to cut it. Same goes for the upstream air / fuel O2 sensor. I bought a cheaper on as of it give me trouble I can cut it and crimp in the one that came with the engine
