I am changing to power steering and not sure what rack I need to look for.
Is it Mustang 99 - 04?

Thanks
Ian

I started searching and found reference to rack extenders. No idea what they are!
I will be guided by the experts here. Thanks

Ian,

I went through the same process midway through my continuing build. There are lots of threads on this and the other forum about the conversion. Here are some lessons learned form my conversion:

1. Buy a good quality rack ... I tried AZ three times and gave up (see build thread for my frustrations); bought the rack, extenders, hose and hose fittings from Breeze. It is also the right ratio;

2. You will need to replace the fitting at the end of the steering arm from the one for a manual rack to the power steering rack (this should have come with your kit from FFR);

3. Depending on your engine you will have some research and fiddling to do to get the right power steering pump installed and belted properly (there are a lot of configurations). I chose a more traditional look with a pump with built in reservoir (less hoses and fittings required than if I had installed a remote reservoir); and,

4. Here is a link to my build thread that has all the posts related to power steering: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/search.php?searchid=3640141.

BTW based on my go karting only it was well worth the upgrade ...

Breeze has everything you need.

I recommend the 3.0 turns rack.

X2 on the rack from Breeze. I've used it a couple times. Comes ready to go with rack extenders and longer boots. Bolt in and go. There are cheaper options for sure (and more expensive ones!) but it is a good looking quality piece that just works. Full disclosure, it is a reman unit. But is drop shipped directly from Unisteer, and they obviously have done a good job with it. Mark has all the necessary hoses and fittings as well. Highly recommended.

Here is a link to the rack extenders on Breeze site:

Here is a photo from their site:

The rack extenders are installed at either end of the rack under the rubber boots shown in the photo. This should help in your search if you are not allowed or cannot order from Breeze internationally.

I forgot one item in my original list:

Rack Limiters. These little plastic collars go inside the ends of the rack to limit the amount of movement of the rack and help prevent the tires from hitting the side of the car or the F-panels when turned.
