In discussion with individual who has FF Roadster for sale (still as a kit....partially built). Asking price is very good but wanted to know what version.
Here's what I know:
Serial Number: FFR-4580K (what does 'K' mean).
Pick-up date: 9/12/2003
I was told that this was a transition year from Mk 2 to Mk 3 so if anyone has any ideas, that would be great.

If memory serves the Mk3 did not enter into production until about March 2004. I believe with the introduction of the Mk3 they changed from the serial number format you show to their new system which reads F5R100****RD, however that may have occured mid-run. Some easy visual giveaways---Mk3 has a tubular "X" under the door openings for side impact protection, Mk 2 does not. Mk3s have a removable transmission "A" frame mount, Mk2s do not. Mk2 bodies were gray gelcoat, early Mk3s were white, later Mk3s black.
Cheers,
Jeff

It's a Mk 2 then.
Still want to know what the 'K' means at the end of the serial number.
Answer: Called FF (there's a novel idea) and they said it was just their designation for the Roadster during that time.

I remember hearing that it stood for "kit". Since they only sell kits, not turnkeys or rollers that seems a little redundant though...???
