I was working on my spindles and hubs this morning and when I go to put the hubs on the spindles they don't slide all the way on. When I measure them with the caliper,!the hub is .01 inches smaller, which I assume is why they don't slide on. I don't think I should hammer them on because no one else's threads mention having to do this. So the question is what should I do? Put some grease on the spindle, and tap them in place, sand the spindle down a bit, or something else?

I would gently sand the spindle down with some very fine paper. Maybe 400 or greater.

Mine took a little persuasion to get them on, but they did seat properly without beating them to death. I used a piece of scrap 2x4 and a dead blow hammer with a few solid whacks to get them past the "sticking point" and then they easily slid on the rest of the way.

I didn't need to do this but don't some people heat the hub with a blowtorch to gain some clearance?

I just did what Papa said. It did go on without serious beating

X2 with Mike. I had the same issue. I used some plumbers sand paper and some patience and they fit like a glove.

As always this group is super helpful. Without this resource I would have never attempted this project.
