2650 I have a MK4 complete kit and the fuel filler neck is flush against the frame and there's still have another 1/2 inch before the four legs contact the fuel tank. Any suggestions?

Can you post a pic that shows the whole tank? I want to make a comment but need to see a better perspective...

David - I think I know where you're going.

The tank is out and on the old work bench. Will that do?

Sure, let's see what'cha got.

Also post a pic of the rear part of your car from essentially the same angle, but pull back so we can see the whole rear part of the car.

Well, that appears to be the right tank.

I was hoping to see the underside of the frame make sure the mounting tubes are as they should be.

Lastly, it would help to see the tank mounted or at least mocked up, where see the mounting downtubes are hitting the flange on the tank. Make sure you have the 3/4" square plugs installed on the ends of the downtubes...

Actually tried some spacers between the tubes and the tank and ended up replacing the inserts in the end of the four down-tubes because I mauled the poor little plastic inserts.

I'll work on mounting the thing and taking some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks...

This might be a dumb question, but what side are you putting the filler on? It should be on the passanger side.

It is on the passenger side.

Still need some other shots to draw a conclusion. Can you post pics of what the tank looks like mounted? Where do the mounting legs hit the tank? It's hard to form an opinion until we see what it looks like in it's mounted position...

My plan is to take some pictures this evening.

Mounting legs and tank straps all look good.

I took a look at that area on the Mk4 we have in the showroom. There is about a 1/4" gap between the filler neck and that tube. It is close, but it should not be hitting. Those rubber stoppers must be installed in the 3/4" tubes that come down and touch the tank. Adding more spacers where those stoppers go may bring the tank down far enough for the filler neck to clear the frame.

If you are still having trouble, I might try hitting the frame with a rubber mallet. You dont have to move it too much. I was a welder for a long time, so i'm not afraid to give things a good bonk! :)

Best regards,

Was worth a shot, you posted that pic out further showing the driver side, and have the sheet metal in on the pass side which wasn't in the tank photo, so I thought I would check. -Scott

It is on the passenger side.

27912792 The one picture shows the before and the gap between the post and tank. The other picture shows the spacer I used under all four posts. I also attached a small piece of rubber between the frame and the filler neck for safety sake.
