I am talking to a man with a mark 2 roadster with a 302 in it and was wondering what would be a good price for the car? has a 8.8 rear, 15
' weld wheels 4000 miles. just wondering being it is fairly old now, don't know when mark 2's stopped being built?

Mk2's haven't been built for quite a few years. But there's nothing wrong with them if built well and maintained. 4000 miles is nothing. It wouldn't really be fair or probably very accurate to start quoting prices without way more details about the build including pictures. There are typically a number of these for sale. Look around and you'll get a pretty good idea of the market.

My MkII #5353 was bought by the original builder just as the MkIIIs were coming out. He said they gave him a small discount to move it. that was in 2005.

I would pay more for a Mark II non donor build than a Mark IV donor poorly built car.
I just bought a Mark II built by a race shop in Ohio for $36k. It was a complete kit and built using a 1990 Mustang LX donor.
In hindsight I should have paid less, but for a good build and finish, expect something in the 30's.
Bottom line, don't worry about whether it's a Mark II or Mark III etc. but the quality of the build, if it's a non donor etc.
And no matter what you pay, you will put money into it, to keep it running or make it the way you want it.
As others have said, look online and you will get an idea of what is selling for how much. Also, don't be in a hurry. If the one you think you want gets sold, there's another for sale a month or later.
