Being here in Florida, if I leave my MK4 in the sun for 5 minutes, my black vinyl seats get hot enough to make bacon crispy. I've been covering the seat with a beach towel and although that works well, it's not very classy looking. So I was thinking some sheepskin covers may do the trick. Anybody out there tried that ? Anybody else's legs and butt getting burned on these seats in Summer ?

Once the car gets rolling, the seats aren't an issue. The moving air is enough to keep it tolerable although it's still warm. I want to use my car year round.

I used to cover my seat with sheep wool when I flew. Worked great! I gonna dig that out again! Thanks for the reminder!

Back when I was living in Germany in the mid-80s, sheepskin seat covers were the rage. I bought a set for my car with no A/C and quickly found that they soak up the sweat and stink to high heaven after a few months of use. Getting them cleaned was pricy, too.

I used black beach towels. Sewn at one end to fit over the top of the seat. They come in handy when caught in crappy weather.

I don't have these yet, but planning to give these a try once my build is done.

You are going to have give us an update on these cushions once you try them.

Looks like they just recirculate ambient air not cool it.

I bought one of those from Amazon for my Corvette with black leather interior. I thought it would be helpful since it is near 100 most days in Austin now. I used it one day and found it very uncomfortable. It is pretty thick and doesn't really conform to the seat or to your body. The fan does circulate air through it to some extent. I could feel the cooled air, so that part did work as advertised, but probably not so good with hot air. The fan is loud, but that won't matter much in a cobra. I could hear the fan over my corsa sport exhaust and long tube headers in the C6 though, so it is fairly loud.

I saw those but was a little skeptical on how it created "cool air" with nothing more than a fan. It sure would be nice if they worked. In racing we use "Cool Shirts" which use refrigerated liquid flowing through a capillary tube system attached to a shirt worn under our race suits. Since it costs about $1000 for the system, I'm too cheap to go for it so I just sweat a lot and avoid summer time races.

Here in AZ, I use "Chilly Pads" (sold at Wal-Mart, I think). Soak it in water, wring the excess out and throw it over your shoulders and back and it cools by evaporation. They work best in dry climates, but will provide some cooling anywhere in summer. I think they are also available on Amazon. Look for "Frog Togs Chilly Towell"

I have a set of those fan cooled cushions in my Cobra. They just circulate air, not cool it. But it helps a lot with getting so sweaty in the heat. They also don't get real hot sitting in the sun. As was mentioned, they are pretty hard and don't conform to the seat. They also caused me to sit quite a bit higher in the seat since they don't sink down in the cushion. I remedied that by replacing the foam with something less dense. I took my brother for a ride in 100+ temps the other day. I did not have the cushion on the drivers side. When we got home I was soaking in sweat, he was pretty dry. So they do work.
