Another frame question, just got my frame back Friday night and kicked off the build again. Completed the front end and moved on to the rear and noticed the mount bracket wasn't centered in between the frame rails. Please tell me this is correct?69354

It's correct. The driveline is offset towards the right side of the car. When you unpack the transmission support, you'll see it's offset as well.

Speaking of which, test fit the transmission support BEFORE installing the engine-transmission assembly. On my car, the forward tabs of the support had to be ground down a fair amount before it would fit into place; the tabs interfered with the 4" tubes such that the mounting bolts wouldn't go through. After I got the support installed, I left it in place when installing the engine. This is backwards from what the manual says to do, but it worked out just fine. You'll appreciate a helper who can lift the tail of the transmission into place.

This is a example of why this forum is so great. I never thought to test fit the support bracket before installing the trans. But I will today. Thanks guys.

One thing you should check is your e-brake cable bracket. Mine interfered with my driveshaft u-joints so I had to grind the corner off the bracket.

Likewise if you install a drive shaft loop. I moved my e-brake cable bracket so the cables would clear the loop, and then moved it a second time so the cables would clear the floor pan. Poor planning on my part led to re-work.

Thanks for the heads up!

Are they still having that issue? That was a problem builders discovered back 10 years ago or more. You think FFR might re-think that bracket by now?

Maybe the guy that welded the LCA tab on backwards also makes the trans brackets?

1. E-brake bracket. The rear one. Not the trans bracket.

2. This problem was reported by 2015 IRS builders. FF confirmed the part is hand placed so there is obviously some variation. Mine cleared but I did trim is slightly to give additional clearance. Others reported no clearance without some trimming. Not a big deal IMO, but agree less variation would be good.
