I noticed that FFR specifically calls out torquing of bolts in many instances and does not in others. Should this be just viewed as oversight in those instances where it is not specified or is there a specific reasoning for when it is required? Example: torquing of control arm bolts but no mention on shocks. Also, should Nylock nuts be torqued?

Thanks

Nylocs do no need to be torqued. They need to be tightened. They call out torque values for the critical items. However, as a mechanical engineer I torqued all my fasteners.

I'm a mechanical engineer too. I wouldn't bother torquing a whole lot of bolts as long as they aren't related to the engine, rear end, brakes or driveshaft. Over tightening u-joint bolts on the drive shaft is easy to do and a no-no. I sure don't torque little 1/4" bolts that hold the radiator and grille in place.

I do follow the instructions if they include a specific torque. I looked up a complete list, from GM, so I properly tightened the flex plate and torque converter.
