This is a picture of what is supposed to be 1 of 2 rear cockpit side covers. I am building a coupe and can't see where this goes. FFR sends you alum you do not need
automatically. Could this be a piece like this. The only opening I have in the cockpit is the seat belt covers.
Any help appreciated.

Very helpful thread-thanks. But still not sure what
the plate does and whether it is used on coupe??
AZPete? who has done both.

This plate blocks hot engine bay air from entering the cockpit and was designed to seal against the S engine lid. The Coupe may require a different shaped panel.

frankc5r, I'm flattered that you remembered mine was an 181S until it became an 181C. I can't help here because when I couldn't figure out how that piece of aluminum was supposed to fit, I just made my own. On the coupe, I made an angled piece that covers the side and the top to keep engine air and noise out. This is an opportunity to be creative and make what you think works best for you. That's the fun part.

Thanks. That is exactly what I will do.
