After 10.5 years on the road, I'm doing some updating, starting with a set of Wilwood brakes.
Refresher of my setup:
2005 MkIII (3.1?)
SN95 front spindle, 87 T-Bird IRS
17x9 Hallibrand w/ 245/45-17 Nitto's, 17x10 w/315/35-17 Nittos
From what I could see and measure, front backspace is 5.25" or 22mm offset, and rear backspace is 6-7/8" or 27mm offset (offsets were stamped on both wheels.)
Wilwood setup is from Levy Racing and the brake installation is going along fine, however...
An unforeseen issue is the front calipers are too wide for my original Hallibrand wheels. These are from Hallibrand, NOT Team III.
Like many, I also run 315 rears which rub a bit. Too much on my last Huntington Beach trip this year with my wife on-board; she's become too concerned to want to continue driving in it. I'm not fond of cutting up the frame mod. and my lower arms are not shimmed at the rear (they're as far back as they'll go). I'm not a fan of punching out studs to put in longer one for spacers either.
I'm looking into a new set of wheels to resolve both issues and I'm NOT tied to Hallibrand looking wheels at this point. Keeping 17" diameter though.
Given this, what are some of you running in terms of a Wilwood setup? Tire and rim sizes and offsets if you have them.
And has anyone gone narrower than 315 out back (i.e.295 ?)
TIA,
Herman
