Gents,

Its been some time since I've made any progress on my build. During this time I've been starting the car, pulling it out of the garage and sometimes taking a spin around the neighborhood.

I got lazy and last started it in January. I did notice that that last few times it would backfire and run rough for the first few minutes.

I've tried, on two separate occasions, over the past few weeks to start it with no success. It fires and on a few tries has sputtered for several seconds, but that's it.

I've connect my HPTuner and re-flashed the stock LS6 tune, which it has been running, and ensured the vats and security is disabled.

I purchased two new coils in the case I find 1 or two bad coils. The plugs are iridium and the oil is Mobile1.

I wanted to get some input form the forum. Thanks in advance.

If it's not given a decent run the plugs may well be sooting up.
I'd pull the plugs and give them a clean before buying parts.
My LS was started and stopped loads of times before it was on the road and suffered pretty bad from it.

Thanks. I'll start there.

When it was starting I would drive it for around the neighborhood or let it idle for 20-30 minutes. Should I stop or is there a better technique?

I created this same post on the other forum and have a suggestion that the filter could be clogged. I'll address that also especially since its and easy access item.

I would also check battery voltage. The computers are rather sensitive to this and starting for a very short period of time and then stalling can be a symptom of a low battery. If it sat for awhile and the battery discharged to a point where it was damaged the only solution my be to replace the battery. Try swapping out from another car first before spending the money on a new one. Yes I know it is a PITA to change the battery.

Crash,
Thanks, Buddy. I have kept a Black and Decker 25 Amp High Frequency Charger connected (with 75A engine start) at all times. When it didn't start right up. I used jumper cables and my SUV. Gauge shows its good, but I'll swap it if needed....

That charger is supposed to be my defense from having to swap the battery...... :(

No codes set?

Fuel level? Fuel pressure?

Tino,
I'll connet the tuner and see. Prior to this I was getting P0171. I assumed it was due to the 4in cai with thw stock tune.

Interesting. P0171 "lean condition", bank 1.

That may be a result of fuel pressure, however it's only showing on one side. Check all the vitals as suggested by the others: voltage, fuel pressure, plugs.

I'd also measure that you're getting power at the coils and injectors (12V) on bank 1. Maybe a loose connector is causing bank1 not to fire, or squirt.

Gents,

Started pulling the plugs with plans to clean them. Two of them had cracked insulators (not sure if I did it installing or pulling them). Swapped 7 of 8 (Just need to gear up for the second one of bank1. Overflow and ps reservoir are not going to make that one easy so I tackle it later this week.

After swapping the 7 I decided to try and start the engine. It started right up with one touch of the start button. And its running very smoothly relative to how it was running when I was able to start it. Still need to reinstall the CAI w/MAF and EGR plumbing.

Thank you all for the assist.

Now I can gear up for continuing with my build.
