Well, we had a great weekend going. We were fast qualifier by 6 seconds, even after a rules clarification that added 75 pounds onto us for winning round #1.
We thought everything was going to be easy peasy, but what we didn't know was that the officials also let the second place car add roughly 2000 RPM to his tune from qualifying until the race. We found that out when the green flagged dropped and we proceeded from a standing start.
The second place car immediately jumped us, but we still felt we would have him covered. Not so as that bump in RPM, and likely also a significant bump in horsepower, made things just about equal, which, as it turned out, made for the best racing on the track all day.
It was back and forth, diving for position, lots of over/unders, etc. for 30 minutes straight.
Unfortunately we did not end up on the top spot on the podium, but now we are tied for points going into race three at Sonoma, so it should keep things exciting.
