Hello!
I recently started driving my MK2 with IRS and at about 100 miles I noticed oil leaking from the driver side rear shock. I spoke to FFR the other day and they are offering no assistance given the age of my kit regardless of miles. It appears that the Pro-shocks had very few issues so I am wondering if it might be best to have this shock rebuilt. I do plan to auto-x the car in the future so if I can make the car better with newer technology shocks and fix my problem I am open to that. I have a few options as I see it.

1) Pull the shock and send it to Pro-shock for a rebuild and miss weeks or more of great driving weather. Has anyone had a rebuild done recently that can speak to cost or timeline?

2) Upgrade the rear shocks to Koni's, will they fit my IRS without issue?

3) locate and purchase an old unused Pro-shock from someone on the forum.

Thanks

Cody

Upgrade is in your best interest. I can do a double adjustable 4 wheel shock and spring package for $1399.

You can call Pro-Shock and find out what that turnaround time is - may be only a day or two.
If not leaking too bad it is probably functioning fine.
If you get some more miles on the car you may find many other higher priority fixes and adjustments you will want to do.

I have the ProShocks that I took off of my MkII at 4-5000 miles. I believe that the IRS shocks were the same as the front shocks. If that is the case, my fronts will be fine for you. BTW mine use the small diameter ( 1 7/8 ID ?) springs. $100 + shipping for two shocks. email me at craigstuard at comcast dot net.
