Fuel filter location

I am building a 33 with a LS3 in it. Where should the fuel filter go? Should it go before or after the pump?

Both is best if you can get them to fit. You dont want debris going into your pump and thrashing it.

Use a strainer before the pump and a filter after the pump. Strainers prevent large particles (particles big enough you can see) from entering the fuel pump and damaging it. Strainers have a larger micron rating, typically 80 to 100 micron or more and their greater open area minimizes flow restriction. Since a strainer is placed on the suction side of the pump it's best to orient it in the vertical if it's encased in a housing so it doesn't trap air that could cause pump cavitation. Filters have a smaller micron rating to capture smaller size particles that can damage or plug jets & injectors. They typically capture 40-micron particles or less and can restrict flow to some degree which is why you don't want to position a filter on the suction side of a pump. A strainer protects the pump and a filter protects the carb or fuel injectors. It's common to have strainers integral to the fuel pick-up on an OEM fuel system set-up for a carburetor and integral on an in-tank fuel pump set-up for either carb or fuel injection. Place the filter on the pressure side of the pump in an area it's easy to access.

You need to use a WIX 33737 filter with pressure regulation and return hose to the tank, with an LS3. I use a 255LPH in-tank pump with strainer from Tanks Inc. with the WIX filter.
