Coyote PCM - let's see how hard we can make this

Got the PCM mounting bracket from FFR. Checked Edwardb and WareagleScott's logs AND the manual (what a concept!). Got a pretty good idea where it's supposed to go. BUT... it doesn't seem to fit. check out the photos:

You'll note that where I have it positioned that if I line up the top of the bracket with the frame, the bottom isn't even close. Same holds for the other way. Line up the bottom and the top is off. So, one of three possibilities:
1. I have it in the wrong place.
2. I have the right place but am trying to mount it incorrectly.
3. The bracket is wrong.

Your thoughts? Anybody have an issue where they needed to do cutting and bending on the bracket? Whatever. I'm sure I can find something else to work on now. Thanks in advance!

I haven't installed mine yet, but a quick check shows the same issue. Maybe someone will chime in with a solution.

Mine wasn't the same as that but did not fit worth a crap either. I ended up having to drill new mounting holes for the pcm to mount. Really seemed unexplainable how they could built a part for a specific location and a specific pcm and it not be correct. I have no idea who developed that thing! I would just cut/bend to make it work!

My build was before that part was available. Designed and made my own. Pretty easy part to make. Fit's OK too. :)

New build turned 50 miles today, and took my wife for her first short cruise. Absolutely awesome ride guys. Hang in there. You're in for a real treat.

Yeah, that part doesn't fit good, You are not doing any thing wrong. Just cut it and bend it to make it fit.

Made two small brackets from aluminum bar stock & bolted them to the square tube over the PS foot well. Put a piece of ThermoTec over the plastic side of the PCM.

I fashioned a simple L bracket in 2012 for the PCM. I used the aluminum that came out of the center section cut from the aftermarket fan shroud. The PCM was mounted to the 3/4" square tube over the passenger side footbox as opposed to the firewall as outlined by FFR from that era. This location was also used by other builders at the time and has since been documented in the build threads of other Coyote builds that have followed.

Looking at the bracket and the frame piece pic 1 in post 1 it would appear if you slid it to the rear about 4-5 inches it would align top and bottom fine. Without the piece of any instructions that came with it hard to say why that wouldn't work. If your going of a measurement in the instructions I might think it was a typo.

Agree, but from the pictures it still has the same style mounting lugs on it.

Actually this computer is very different it mounts flat with Four holes in the body of the computer rather than two tabs at the top

It looks like t is designed to be slid aft. Be careful though, check that the harness from the engine is long enough if you slide it another few inches back.

Good point. The one I made before the FF one was available pretty much split the vertical 3/4-inch tube in that area. Visible in the pictures I posted. The engine cables reached to that point. I'm not sure how well they would reach further back as in the original post or even further. Something to check for sure.

To Kerns BBO's and R Thomas' point, I tried that. FFR suggested the same thing. I am also concerned about cable reach. Doesn't matter - it doesn't fit any better irrespective of where you put it. I tend to agree with Scott on this one - not sure what the designer was thinking. Looks like a "cut and bend" job, which frankly I was trying to avoid (It would come out better with a brake, which I don't have). A small problem in the grand scheme of things. Thanks for your input!

Update! Got a note from Dan just before I was ready to start cutting and bending: Engineering re-did the bracket and Dan shipped one off to me. It fits very nicely. FFR comes through - again!

I should be able to get this in place later this week, and hopefully make some real progress on wiring.
