1965 Mustang Headlight switch with Ron Francis wiring harness.

Can someone point me in the right direction to wire the RF harness to the 1965 Mustang headlight switch? I'm trying to keep the 60's look.

Thanks!

Only way to go man! Here is how I wired mine. Note this allows the parking lights to stay on with the headlights... figured if I suddenly lost a headlight it would be good that the parking light was on for safety.

Excellent! Thank you for taking the time to post this. I'm using all 1965 Mustang stuff - headlight switch, key switch and wiper. Thought it would look more period correct this way.

FYI - the switch that FFR provides is a GM unit, but since the Ron Francis harness includes a plug-and-play connector for that one, I just swapped the knob from an early Mustang light switch and then incorporated the bezel of the same vintage. The jamb nut that comes with the FFR switch fits perfectly inside the recess of the light bezel, too.

I couldn't agree more that a set of vintage Ford switches looks wonderful in these cars - I used the ignition (left of the steering column), light switch knob / bezel & cigar lighter (for a power port). I paired these with some metal push button switches from the farm supply store (horn and windshield wash pump), a couple of Lucas blade-type toggles, and some original-style knobs for the wiper switch, heater, and manual choke (though this one is labeled as "Panel Dim").

I know this is an old thread. I used this thread to wire up my car last year. However I wanted to fill in one thing that isn't really explained here. The Ron Francis harness with the kit light switch is a ground interrupt for the courtesy light. The Ford Light Switch bridges power from the fusebox to circuit. So you can't just follow the wiring guide. What I just worked out this week is instead of connecting the red wire from the radio portion of the harness positive on your lights and the grey wire to the light ground on one side and wire the grey wire to D1 or D2 on the switch on the other side you need to:
1.) Ground the lights the chassis
2.) Connect the red wire from the radio portion of the harness to D1
3.) Connect the positive from the lights to D2 or connect the grey wire to D2 and the positive at the other end to the grey

I can now turn my 65 switch all the way to the left and the courtesy lights turn on. Hope this helps anyone that wants to use the 65 switch to control the headlights/tail lights and courtesy lights.
