A quick demo of the Aventador skin for those that are interested. This will work with the 100 and 200
series modules.

There's quite a bit going on with development of the 200 series system. ODBII for CAN Bus is working (2007+ PCMs), and J1850 is just around the corner. Video to follow soon.

I'm doing two custom projects for customers that are opening up new doors. First off, a muffler controller
that operates a valve to control exhaust flow for performance or cruising conditions. He would like the
LCDi system to take the place of the smart phone app.

66794

Second, an electronic HVAC controller to replace the Vintage Air knobs. The remote screen will have a
graphic interface that will control fan speed, temperature, and Air Conditioning. It will also act as an
automatic Climate Control. The interior temperature sensor will report cabin temperature to the LCDi
module, and the module will adjust temperature and fan speed to maintain your desired temperature.

From this:

To something like this:

The next step is to try this in the GTM. I'll have a video of this as well.

Will this work with the Infinity Box, I can not remember if you said it would? If it does not then you need to get together with Jay Harris and have something put together. With these two products together you would have something unique. I sure wish this was around when I build my car. Having all the controls in the dash would have been great.

Yes, it will work with the Infinity Box. It can work in tandem, or as a separate stand alone module.

The LCDi system can actually control most of what the Infinity Box does, and more. Once the BlueTooth/
WIFI is programmed, it will have remote capability and also able to report information from the car to
your home computer and/or smart phone.

The CAN bus protocol is ready for the LCDi system with the following PID's confirmed:

#define PID_ENGINE_LOAD 0x04
#define PID_COOLANT_TEMP 0x05
#define PID_SHORT_TERM_FUEL_TRIM_1 0x06
#define PID_LONG_TERM_FUEL_TRIM_1 0x07
#define PID_SHORT_TERM_FUEL_TRIM_2 0x08
#define PID_LONG_TERM_FUEL_TRIM_2 0x09
#define PID_FUEL_PRESSURE 0x0A
#define PID_INTAKE_MAP 0x0B
#define PID_RPM 0x0C
#define PID_SPEED 0x0D
#define PID_TIMING_ADVANCE 0x0E
#define PID_INTAKE_TEMP 0x0F
#define PID_MAF_FLOW 0x10
#define PID_THROTTLE 0x11
#define PID_FUEL_LEVEL 0x2F
#define PID_BAROMETRIC 0x33
#define PID_BATTERY_VOLTAGE

More PID's to follow and available upon request as well. J1850 protocol should be ready next week. Here's a quick video featuring the remote touchscreen (7 x 4 inch display area):

I had a question about the remote screen in the video above:

The gauges are all set to Throttle Position (TPS) and that's why they all move at the same time and do not correspond to the numeric data.

In fact, none of the gauges are connected to anything with respect to Oil Pressure, AFR, or MAP. It is simply a functional 'proof of concept'
to check whether the CAN bus data can be shown numerically and graphically.

Hopefully, that clears things up!

OBDII CAN and J1850 protocols now ready to order!
This feature has the ability to read codes and display the associated fault.
You can clear codes as well as scan numerous PID's for engine information.

The OBDII will be a standard feature on all LCDi kits (excluding basic versions).
Up to 8 PID's can be logged with J1850 protocol and up to 20 PIDs can be
logged with the CAN bus protocol.

Examples of PIDs (if supported by your PCM):
- Injector Pulse Width
- 02 Sensor ratio
- Intake Air Temp
- Throttle Position
- Manifold Pressure
- Barometric Pressure
- Ignition Timing
- Engine Temperature
- Short and Long Term Fuel Trim

For a more extensive list of OBDII PID's and general info see this link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs
Note that the Expanded option price has dropped because it results in
wiring and module development on my end. The data can be hardwired to
the DLC harness, or you may purchased a DLC to DB-9 connector for $25
that plugs into the vehicles existing port.

This is an example of the display screen on the LCDi200 system. The OBDII
data will be displayed on the main screen for the LCDi100 verions.

Vintage Air Controller Ready to Order!

This eliminates the mechanical knobs in favour for a graphic touchscreen.

"AUTO" activates the automatic climate control. The system will use the internal cabin temperature sensor to
keep the temperature at your desired set point. The controller will adjust fan speed or temperature automatically
in order to achieve the result.

The Air Flow diverters can be set by pressing the arrows to direct air to the main vents, foot-well, or both zones.

Note: These features can be used with the smaller 2" x 4" touchscreen controller:

We have a game changer here!
I've been evolving the design of this system to have more OEM functionality, look, and feel. The
latest update is incorporating an embedded controller and dedicated LCD screen as opposed to
using generic tablets.
The new hardware addresses many issues with screen size, boot-up time, connectivity, and lower
power consumption. It also eliminates the need to charge the tablet batteries, or use a maintenance
charger when the car is not driven for several days.
The controller boots up very fast and can handle up to three LCD screens at4K HD resolution. I'm
not sure that having that much graphic capability will be cost-effective, or necessary but the processing
power is there to make things smooth.

http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=75230&d=1507827079
Total system weight will be equal, or less.
Power consumption will be lower as well.
This system will now be able to compete with 'the big boys' for similar costs that I have been able
to offer. Once I have figured out the module enclosures and any supporting circuitry I'll start a new
thread and announce the pricing.

Forthcoming Changes:
1.) 9" screen main LCD screen (8.31" wide x 5.0" high)
2.) 7" x 4" touch screen for remote control and auxiliary display
3.) Embedded controllers
There have been many requests for an audio MP3/Radio and backup camera have been made for
the Remote Screen which I'll be implementing as well.

Wow, that's quite a leap ahead in your product development. So everything will completely shut down/not need power when you turn the car off? What is the boot-up time?

LCD Gauges
10-12-2017, 06:17 PM
It is a huge leap, but it had to be done. Tablets go out of circulation quickly and that
really makes it difficult to maintain the system.

With only the LCD screen to source, it makes finding replacements a piece of cake if
needed.

The controller will go into sleep mode (like your car's PCM) when the ignition is turned
off. It runs on the main vehicle battery with very low power draw.

The first initialisation when installed to the car is 21 seconds. This happens only once
(or every time you remove the main battery cables).

Wake-up from sleep mode when turning on ignition is instant (about one second).

Operation is not much different than when you would expect in a production car.

A big jump ahead is coming for the LCDi-200 series systems! I was able to find a company that builds Double-DIN computers with touchscreens.

This new hardware will replace the remote processor and LCD touchscreen. It has a much better CPU (i3 vs Celeron) and much more
processing power to handle additional applications.

101834101833

These are the actual units being built as "we type"...
101835101836

The new hardware will address many requests that I've been receiving for GPS software and a radio/media player. Installation and
mounting will be easier as the standard Double-DIN will fit more vehicles without the need for custom brackets to secure an LCD screen.
It goes without saying, the overall appearance and trim of the front will look immaculate!

These changes are going to push the quality and functionality over the top to exceed any LCD system currently on the market (that I'm aware of).

New pricing and options will be made available soon, but here's a quick list of new items:
- AccuAir eLevel Suspension/Airbag controller
- GPS software
- Radio/Media Player
- Vintage Air Climate Control
- Power Windows and Door Popper
- Electronic Touchscreen Engine Start/Stop
- Backup Camera

I'll be receiving the units within the next couple of weeks for testing and then a proper video and unveiling will be posted.

Thank you for your interest!

Will this new double din unit handle the dash display as well?

LCD Gauges

How is the screen when used in the Roadster? Can you still rread it on sunny days or does a good need to be built?

LCD Gauges
06-30-2019, 08:33 AM
JcData,

The screens are "sunlight readable" (1000 NITS) which makes direct sun contact a non-issue. Building up a glare-shield is always recommended to reduce
glare however. I'm creating a new dash pod with a deeper edge for extra shading for wider screens (12.3 inch).
