Does anyone have pictures of their donor gauge dash. My donor is a 99 GT convertible with grey faceplates (The one extra gauge factory five sent me has a black face. I havn't started cutting the cluster apart yet, but this a ghetto written all over it.

If anyone has pictures or opinions to share about the donor gauge set I would appreciate it.

What's the gauge you bought from FFR with the black face for? I would be hesitant to mix it in with the grey faced gauges..Perhaps if you installed it on left of the steering wheel it wouldn't look so obviously oddball..

When done correctly donor gauges can look pretty decent..See them here for example. http://cobra.spintime.org/assypicsinterior.html

I would never try to dissuade anyone from using donor parts, because I know how fast you can blow the build's budget, but... if money is not an object, personally, I think the additional time and work of cutting them up, wiring them, dealing with circuit boards, gauge lighting, etc. etc. isn't worth it.

I didn't know that was still an option as my base coupe kit came with autometer ultralights.

If I am not mistaken the loose one they sent me was an amp meter. If the dash was blank I would simply go with the 4 small and 2 large gauges from the donor. I guess I could attempt to plug one of the holes in the dash and stick with the donor gauges, but I am afraid you'd be able to see it. especially if I ditch the foam padding and glue the vinyl to the dash.

I will take a picture of my gauge cluster and the single gauge they sent me tonight.

Well if as timb suggested, that the gauges now come with the newer base kit, maybe you still have more coming? Perhaps they were on back-order?
Otherwise, it seems rather odd they would just send you just one, unless you actually ordered it as an option with the kit. Have you checked your parts packing list?

Yeah it is definitely leaning toward ghetto. That being said, mine have been working for 17 years in the cobra and 11 years before that in the Mustang.
Factory Five sends an Ammeter to fill the extra hole in the dash. It used to match the black Mustang gauges fairly well but apparently that is no longer the case with the grey Mustang gauges. I'm not a fan of having that much current running through the dash wiring so I ended up replacing it with a Vacuum gauge.
Here are a couple of pics. Lots more here (http://cobra.spintime.org/assypicsinterior.html)

I have a set of new Auto Meters and a new precut dash I'll sell to ya cheap... that'll fix the different color issue.

I don't think I am going to use these. I kinda like the grey, but certainly not mixed with black.

I suppose you could mount it in a separate spot, rather than on the dash itself. Might not looks quite as hodge podge as having one gauge a different color.
Maybe below the dash, and above the tranny tunnel?

If your not already aware, there may be a anti-slosh module for the fuel gauge, that you should harvest from the donor cluster. It prevents your gauge needle wildly swinging about, when your driving.
