I ordered the meatballs from finish line. Didn't come with any sort of application instructions.
It was my understanding these could come on and off the car.
The website says this: "Made of static cling vinyl. They are removable/reusable and excellent for track or show events. They do not come off in the rain or at high speed. A good alternative to permanent paint, sticky back or tape."

Do you simply peel them off the backing and put them on the car? Is that all there is to it? I don't want to damage the finish or anything.
Anyone with experience with these please share any relevant information.

Thanks

First make sure the car is clean. Mist with water with just a splash of car wash solution where you want it. Lay the meatball on the car. You can reposition if you need to. Then take a squeegee and wipe from the center out to force the water out. Let it "dry" overnight. You're good to go!

Thanks and how do these hold up to repeated install and removal?
Is it something you can take off again and again or is it kind of once on and once off?

All the ones I've ever seen or used are not reusable, but I don't know this company's products.

See this though: http://www.ffcars.com/forums/66-2006-roadster-archives-read-only/155684-**********-static-cling-vinyl-meatballs.html

I'm assuming you saw, but Jeff Miller recently commented on the other forum that you should wait 3 months before applying stickers to ensure no ill effects on the paint. I'd hate to see that fantastic paint job have an issue.

I did see that but thanks for pointing it out just to be sure. I do intend to wait but was just wondering since I have been going through my remaining to do list. Really like how everyone in the forum looks out for others. Good group of people here!

I've used mine over and over. That's the beauty of these cling type. And the main reason for them. IMHO

Oh! When you're not using them, store them on a flat surface! I stick them to the cabinet doors in my garage. BELEIVE ME!!

They are totally reusable if you take care of them while they are off the car. I have acrylic sheets that are cut to fit into a pizza box. The static clings are stored on the acrylic sheets just the same method as on a car, and then kept in the box, out of the sun. I have had some sets last for 5-6 years, but they will not last forever. If the numbers are digitally printed on the static cling, they will last longer than if the numbers are applied to the static cling with permanent adhesive decal material, since the two materials expand and contract at a different rate. I have mine printed at a local sign shop.

I have also found out that instead of using water, windex promotes a better adhesion, maybe because the little bit of alchohol evaporates faster then straight water. I spray the back side of the static cling and the door, apply the decal, then use a bondo spreader to push the air bubbles out. If the air bubbles are not pushed out, the decal will not stick. But definitely wait until the paint is totally cured before using anything.

I have had mine up to 120+ with no problems.

The last time I used numbers on a car I was in UK, and there sometimes grumpy cops who would say it was illegal. Never got a ticket for it but this talk of removable made me wonder- are there places where permanent numbers on your car get you pulled over?

What Sten and Derald said. RR, my numbers have been on for almost 10 years with no mention from the police (luckily I've only been pulled over one time in the car and that was well deserved).

I believe as long as your car isn't painted to mimic a police or some other official vehicle you should be fine at least in the United States. Cant imagine with all the weird stuff I have seen on cars having a number could possibly be a problem.
