View Full Version : Anyone in SE Michigan able to help me cross an item off an old man's bucket list?

Hi,
I'm Eric Zehnder from SE Michigan and 31 years old (and 6'3"). One of the main items on my bucket list is to build a kit car with my Dad before it's too late. I'm really not sure if I'll ever be able to accomplish that for even the cheapest of kits but I keep saving and hoping that he'll be around if and when I can raise the money (818 more likely, maybe even Exomotive Exocet). One of the hopefully easier items on the bucket list is just do be able to drive a Cobra replica. For my Dad it is the ultimate sports car - full stop. We go to the Dream Cruise every year and just gawk at the Cobras even if they're just idling by. He grunts at a 427...

As an avid sim racer, I get how easy it is to lose control with a hair too much throttle and I get that real life doesn't have a Reset button. Reading the "A Few Reminders (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?9926-A-few-reminders-to-all-owners-amp-a-good-read-for-soon-to-be-s)" post hit home about how unreasonable it may be to ask this:

Can anyone in the SE Michigan area help me get my Dad into a Cobra for Father's Day June 17th/18th?

I'm sure he would be respectfully restrained behind the wheel but if just being a passenger is the only option that would still be amazing. Please hit me up if you can help.
Thank You!

Where in SE Michigan? I'm in Lake Orion. I'd be happy to try to help give a ride if the logistics would work. No disrespect, but no one but me is going to drive it. I suspect most will feel the same way.

Definitely don't wait. Lost my dad four weeks ago and he never got a chance to ride in my Cobra. Kids, mortgage, college all delayed buying the kit until too late. I should have done what you're doing, and looked for for a willing local ride.

Good luck!

Understandable. My Dad lives in Auburn Hills and I live in Clawson so a drive up to Lake Orion would be super easy.

Send me a PM when the time gets closer and you want to try to do something. It would be fun to help if it works out. I'm about six miles north of I-75 just off Baldwin Road. Short drive from Auburn Hills.

I'm in the local club and of course do the Dream Cruise thing. The last couple years we've also participated in a drive-in cruise at the Troy Airport on July 4 morning. Just a couple blocks from you in Clawson. Not as many Cobras as at the Dream Cruise, but we usually have a good turnout. Plus lots of other cool cars. Feel free to stop over.

I am more than happy to help also. I am a little farther away but that's okay.

Not sure if you would be interested or not but how about taking the build school and building the class car with your dad.
I know it is not yours but I think you guys would have a ball.
You can have some fun and meet a bunch of guys that are just like you and love the Cobra.

Take care, let us all know.
