View Full Version : Anyone put a Porsche 996 transaxle in a GEN 1 ?

Hi folks, I am in mock up stage with engine and transaxle. I put the engine(LS2) in using corvette aluminum motor mount brackets and GTO mounts. I have new corvette mounts on order. The 996 Transaxle hits the removable rear frame on the lower drivers side. The shifter arm is the contact. Also, it sets higher than it should i think, with the motor lower in the front than it should. We are going to try some washers under the mounts, but it looks like further modifications to the lower part of the frame will be in order. My question is....... someone must have done this before. Eric says he has sold many of these transaxles. Does anyone have any help to offer? Thanks, Bill

I have a G96/00 behind an LQ9 in a Gen 1 and haven't experienced any of the issues you are describing. The only major modification required is the
transaxle mount which is not a show-stopped if you have access to a welder.
