The door latch pin on my MK4 has lost its angle and no longer seats properly causing the door to open (not a good thing on a right hander). From looking at different threads it seems buying a set is the only way to go.

So my question is...********** or Factory Five. Anyone know if the ********** version is better?

I've only used the ones from Factory Five. So can't comment on the ones from **********. Just looking at the pictures, they appear to be exactly the same. Can't imagine there are too many sources for these. But that's a pure guess. But I'm not understanding the problem you're describing. I don't know what lost it's angle means. Short of something breaking, it's hard to imagine they would wear to the point of needing to be replaced. The pin needs to be aligned exactly with the hole in the latch or it's not going to seat properly. Also, I've found there is sometimes interference between the fit of the pin and the hole. So even if exactly aligned, the pin won't drop in. In those cases, I've opened up the hole in the latch slightly and they worked perfectly. Maybe post a picture or two of your latches and what you are finding defective.

Not sure I understand but a couple of tips.

Remove the spring indicated by the arrow. Lube w/ white grease or gear oil the lever pivot and the cast box that the latching pin moves in. These two things will greatly reduce the effort needed to both latch and open the door so the thing will last longer. There is also a mod where you replace the pivot pin w/ a carriage bolt so search here and on the other forum for that. Mine lasted 8 yrs before my pivot finally broke and then I did the carriage bolt mod.

Mine broke within one year on the drivers door did the modification Craigslist is showing to both doors and have worked great for two years now, would recommend you do both!
