Upper steering shaft?

What is the diam of the upper steering shaft on the MK 3.1?
I need to know because I will be welding on a SPA lug to allow the removable steering wheel to have a horn button with two directional buttons on the wheel itself.

Sorry to answer here since I'm not a FFR Tech and that's who this subforum is for, but I just measured mine at the end of the shaft for you and it's .700 on the curved sides and .632 on the flats. These measurements were at the very tip of the upper shaft.
