I have the FFR supplied e brake handle and cobra rear brakes. I was not happy with the way the e brake cables had to be cut, swaged and routed. I was planning on doing edwardB's pulley mod to route above the 4in tube and cutting the cables I got with my brakes to length, but when I cut I couldn't seem to get the sheathing off without nicking the cable. Plus the hand swaged ferrule didn't seem great.
Carlewms seemed to have a good solution with the lokar cables, so I ordered a set (https://www.amazon.com/Lokar-EC-80FU-Universal-Emergency-Housing/dp/B000CONKC4).

I looking at the clevis, it appears that it could mount on the outside of the FFR handle and connect using the lokar supplied pin if I enlarge the hole just a bit.

But since both edwardB and carlewms modified either the clevis or the handle, I wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason I couldn't just do this.

The reason I cut the Lokar bracket down is because at the standard length I was afraid it would get hung up against the chassis mount. Plus I offset the mounting holes away from the center to move it down at bit. Both visible in the picture below. Mock up the whole e-brake assembly, cables, etc. and check how it works. Not just bolting it to the handle assembly. Maybe you'll be OK.

I got everything mocked up today and there is indeed some interference with the chassis mount but otherwise I am much happier with this solution). I am planning on making the extended lever like Carl. I'm choosing that route instead of modifying the clevis for 2 reasons. 1) I don't want to cut into my brand new clevis (I don't have a lot of experience with metal work, so I'd rather screw up a flat sheet than have to order a new piece from lokar) and 2) since I'm not using the wilwood brakes I want to have a bit more travel in the cable without having to crank the handle way up.

I used the Lokar cable unmodified and it seems to work well. I did run the lines under the tube (like the manual says but everyone questions :) ). No issues to date.

As an aside - the ebrake is a oversized pain for a rarely used part (at least for me). I kept it in the standard position but belted up you can't reach it. When I'm home I just leave it in gear so I only need it on hills (which has been never) and for annual inspection. At least the Lokar parts made installation easy. Also, I have Wilwood 4 piston rear brakes so the stock cable would have needed to be modified anyway.

Long story short - I believe your way or edwardB/carlewms will be just fine. It is just a matter of preference as the functionality should remain.
