Hot Rod Magazine online profiles the all-new Gen 3 Daytona Coupe replica! Hot Rod’s Brandon Gillogly did some awesome camera work as we drove in the California high desert. Hot Rod Magazine’s online section has a good overview article with a larger one coming out in the print magazine in a few months.

At the end of January, I traveled out west with the Factory Five show truck to attend the 2017 Grand National Roadster Show and also to do some driving and photo work of our new Gen 3 Coupe with Hot Rod Magazine. The photos came out great and the new car sits just right.

The high desert near Pearblossom, California has plenty of beautiful and empty roads perfect for driving/testing.

We spent about 5 hours doing the shoot and driving the car. Afterwards, we loaded up the truck and headed back to New England.

1. Great Article!
2. Great Company!
3. Great Factory Five Team!

For those of you have not seen the new Type-65, I can tell you first hand that it is all that and more.
We saw the completed car and rolling chassis at Cruising The Emerald Coast on their way back from S.E.M.A. and it is on my bucket list.

The car was at SEMA and the new shape is sexy

Surely you noticed the quote the chassis will go under our next supercar to be unveiled later!
Since it's still a skunkworks item lets dub it code name Daytonamera :o

I agree that the new Coupe is all kinds of sexy!

Although I haven't finished my Roadster, I have already planted the idea with my wife that I may need to build this too!

Like DB, I also saw the comment about the new design. I really look forward to seeing what they are developing; exciting stuff to be sure!

Factory Five continues to do some pretty cool stuff, and it's fun to be a very, very small piece of this community.

Regards,

Steve

"Don’t say goodbye to the GTM just yet—Factory Five told us it will live on as long as there’s demand for it. The Type 65 isn’t taking its place, either. This chassis that now underpins the Gen 3 Type 65 will be used in its next flagship supercar that hasn’t yet been unveiled."

I was very lucky that I got to see the Daytona Gen 3 in stages of build a few weeks ago. It was the first time I met Karen Salvaggio and David Pohli. While I am completely new to factory 5, and do not have much to reference on...I was beyond impressed.

1. Bring Back The Daytona Spyder!
2. Maybe a Ferrari GTO-250 on the new Type-65 chassis of course.
3. How about C-2 Corvette Grand Sport.
...(Mongoose Motorsports Makes A Really Nice G/S Rendition; However, We All Know That Dave & His Band Of Merrie Men & Women Can Likely Do It Better!)

Then Put A Chevy Engine In It & All Will Be Right With The World!

A 250GTO would be glorious!... But I have a feeling FFR wouldn't want to get into the minefield of potential lawsuits. A C2 GS would be just the ticket, I've long considered the Mongoose a nice alternative to FFR's Type 65.

I really like the Daytona Spyder, even more with a removable top!

I think a twin turbo coyote powered Daytona would qualify as "the next supercar"
FWIW
The LS8-9 whatever they are up to now with the blown LS would be an option and also fit that category.

My point is a properly powered and sorted Daytona Gen III has to be the product mentioned above.
Time will tell, because Dave knows how to create a buzz and watch it simmer.

Wonder if the new car will be shown at the Factory Five Open House on the 10th of June?

"This chassis that now underpins the Gen 3 Type 65 will be used in its next flagship supercar that hasn’t yet been unveiled."

I would definitely be in for a Ferrari 250 GTO replica (especially with a 5.2L Ford Voodoo engine, for that flat-plane crank sound), but they mention "Flagship Supercar", which would indicate (much like the GTM) that this will be an original design…?

I thought it already was/is a super car! Maybe it's time to start a thread on this conjecture. I think it's time for more than 8 cylinders and perhaps a European flair. Are we talking mid engine? Or do we stay traditional and just outrun the vettes an vipers with front engines in lighter cars! If it's a tweaked Gen III chassis then we are looking at suspension and driveline enhancements. Beefier differential and humongous rear tires? Wider front track? Still want a couple more cylinders added?

Why shouldn't the race version of the Type 65 be the next supercar? Look at all the aero enhancements besides the ultra stiff chassis. John George had to DETUNE his salvaged F150 Coyote to be legal in ST2 at NASA events, that's right less than stock truck motor. I'm sure the Snap-On build would class to STU its less than 5lbs per horsepower, no turbo no supercharger. I seriously doubt more than a handful of you have ever driven anything in that class. So wait and see what kind of performance numbers come out of it before we decide if its super.

Great minds-----------
I already started a thread in General Discussion asking Dave Smith what makes up a Supercar, I'm hoping he responds on Monday and it becomes an interesting thread/conversation for the whole FF community not just based on a specific model.
