MkIV build, back cockpit aluminum with the seat belt slots. My seat belt slots are partially blocked by the frame it attaches too. I can fudge the sheet metal up and get the slots to clear the frame work, but am a little off the floor with the 90* flange. Any problems with raising it up to clear. I think the slots need to stay as they are, since the trim rings are the same size.

It is supposed to sit low. It stops the belts from being against the sharp edge along the bottom.

What Norm said and if really necessary you can just enlarge the top portion of the slot. Mine sit a little low. After putting the carpet in place and the edge guard on the sheet metal the harness bracket/buckle/whatever you would call it is a tight fit through the hole. Once the metal piece is through though it works just fine for just the belt part coming through.

X3 on leaving them where they are. Once the carpet is installed, I cut a slit in the carpet right along the top of the 3/4 inch tube and fit the belts through. They wrap around the tube and down to the attachment points. I leave the rest of the carpet there to act as a dust seal from the trunk, plus it looks better IMO. When you install the trim rings, you're going to find the outer ones are right against the cockpit body roll, especially on the driver side. Bottom line, you don't want the slots any higher than they are.

Thanks big time guys. I am glad I asked and the pros replied. Stuff like that bothers me and now it will not.
