I ordered my kit a couple of weeks ago, and set up for a June completion date. In the mean time, I've been preparing for my build with several tool purchases for things I didn't already have. Along the way, I purchased this:

It's officially my first part for my build!

Tools I've purchased so far:

Pneumatic Riveter
Safety wire tool
Right-angle air drill
Flare nut wrenches
Cleco tool and a good supply of pins (75 x 1/8" and 25 x 3/16")
#10 and #30 drill bits
Storage bin to hold clecos, rivets, drill bits

Having fun already and still months away from delivery.

Holy cow! You get to build your car in the den, with carpet, and everything!? Lucky man.

I would also get some extended drill bits - maybe 6" or so. When you are drilling holes for the rivets, the drill body can get too close to other panels. Jeff Miller - da bat - suggested extended drill bits for my roll bar grommets. Wish I'd used them on most of the regular panels!!

I'll do that. I found a good source for wire gauge bits and they have 6" as well as the shorter ones.

Ha! Not a chance. I'm getting the shop organized right now. I'll post pics when my work space is set up -- no carpet.

As for long drill bits, I use the drill bits with a hex. DeWalt (I think) makes 3 or so different length magnetic bit holders. That allows me to use any size bits in the holder, plus you can put a couple together to really get some distance. I've drilled a few holes 2 feet away. A bit wobbly, but strong. Go slow and steady.

As for power tools, of course a good battery powered hand drill, but I think the power tools I used the most, by far, was my old, Chinese made drill press, and my old, Chinese made band saw. They both are well over 30 years old, worn out to the max, but still work amazingly well. Who knew?

I have a good Dewalt 20v Max drill with several 3.0Ah and 5.0Ah batteries. The Matco right-angle drill is air, and I was thinking of getting a 3/8" pistol-style air drill as well. I have a really nice Ridgid floor standing drill press that my wife bought me for Father's Day a few years ago. I haven't used it much, but it does come in handy.

On another note, I built my body buck today:
