Is there any update on model donors after the thread I've linked above?

I've just moved to north Atlanta from the UK and I'm looking to get a run around car for short daily commutes. Always liked the Subaru's. Not sure if I'll ever turn it into an 818, but if there is a later model car that has any potential in the future I don't mind having the option so I can drive it for a few years then convert it later.

Was looking at Impreza WRX sport wagons (my , had an STI version back in 1999), Outback, Forresters. Looks like most people hold onto them for a few hundred thousand miles before they sell them so there aren't many good condition cars around.

I don't suppose any of the later models work that are more readily available?
